Mr Zimbabwe Competition Set For Saturday

Bodybuilding takes center stage in Zimbabwe.

The Mr Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) is set to be hosted at the Bulawayo Theatre this Saturday. Some of the country’s best bodybuilders will take to the stage and display their physiques for a chance at the storied ZITF crown.

Organizing team member Simon Gama told The Chronicle:

“We are ready and looking forward to an exciting competition. Everything is now in place in terms of our preparations and we call on all bodybuilding fans to come and have a great time at the Bulawayo Theatre.”

Gift Sango won the competition last year. He will make another run at first place from his home base in Botswana. 2017 runner-up Prosper Saungweme is not expected to compete, which will open an intriguing space for the up and comers to put pressure on the title.

The senior class is expected to be especially decorated. South African-based reigning Mr Zimbabwe, Ndumiso Dlodlo, 2016 Mr Zimbabwe Paul Goredema, five-time Mr Bulawayo, Lovemore Munyamana, Blessing Nyapimbi of Marondera and Thembinkosi Lunga will take stage to contest for 1st prize.

Other categories include Men’s Physique, Men’s Fitness, Bikini, Wheelchair Men’s Bodybuilding, and Junior (under 23) Men’s Bodybuilding.

In the Bikini, top prospects include last year’s winner Mitchell Matsito, Shantel Greenland, Sinini Nxumalo and Loreen Moyo.

The ZITF will also feature a Mr Strongman Challenge on the main floor, and various other fitness-related entertainment shows.

Cement manufacturing company PPC Zimbabwe has offered up prizes for the Mr ZITF Bodybuilding and Mr Strongman champions.

Spectator attendance will cost $5. Both excellent attendance and generous sponsorship make this competition an ever-growing enterprise in the blooming African bodybuilding industry.
