After Placing Second, Nick Walker Reflects on 2023 Arnold Classic Performance

Nick Walker reflects on his performance at the 2023 Arnold Classic.

After taking second place at the 2023 Arnold Classic, Nick Walker addresses his performance at the recent show. Hoping to make a big impression in this recent show, Walker would come up short behind the ultra talented Sampson Dauda.

What an exciting and unexpected turn of events. Many believe that Nick Walker, Big Ramy and Andrew Jacked would be the top contenders at this year’s Arnold Classic. While they all gave an impressive showing, it would ultimately be Samson Dauda that took top honors at the show. Everyone was much improved since the 2022 Olympia, each athlete shoring up their shortcomings. Despite finishing third at the Olympia, Walker wasn’t satisfied and believed he could have placed higher at the show. In hopes of putting the division on notice, Walker intended to make a big impression at the 2023 Arnold Classic. While he did make quite the impression, he would still find himself coming up short.

Nick Walker clearly has all the ability in the world to dominate bodybuilding. With that said Samson Dauda possesses the very same potential and proved it at the Arnold. It’s rare to see Walker come in anything but first place at every show besides the Olympia. His second place showing has proven that the level of competition has steadily increased in a short period. Walker will have to go back to the drawing board and reassess what he’ll need to change to once again present himself as a figure of dominance in the Men’s Open division.

Despite coming in second place at the show, Nick Walker appears to be in pretty high spirits. As a competitor performing at your absolute best is the goal. Whatever results come from that performance is essentially secondary. If you perform your best and end up taking first place or perform your best and end up taking last, at least having the knowledge of giving it your all is a comfort. It appears that this is the approach that Walker is taking.

In a recent post to Instagram, Nick Walker communicated that he was pleased with his performance and the improvements he was able to make in such a short time after the Olympia.

We came in better than the O, improved in all areas we wanted to improve on. I’m really happy with the package we brought, came up a little short, but you know how I do, when I lose, I only come back better.

It’s great to see that Nick Walker is taking everything in stride. It’s the true hallmark of a champion to be able to be proud of your best even if that means you come up short. No doubt Walker will come back better than ever in his next competition. I feel like we want to take oh much needed rest before focusing on another show later this year. For now, you should be proud with what he was able to accomplish.
