Opinion: Brandon Curry is the Biggest Challenge to the Top of the Open Weight Division

Brandon Curry could challenge the top of the Open Weight division.

Everyone has their time to shine, their day in the sun when they’re at the top of the game. They can either embrace that moment or late it fall by the way side rendering their great talent and skill null. Phil Heath embraced the moment and became a dominant Olympia champion, winning seven competitions in a row. Now that his winning streak has ended, Shawn Rhoden and Roelly Winklaar seem to be the talk of the town, both destined to dominate the Open Weight division.

But not if Brandon Curry has anything to say about it.

Coming in fifth place at the 2018 Olympia, Brandon Curry continues to rise through the ranks of the Open Weight division, showcasing vast improvements every time he hits the stage. While William Bonac is certainly still a major threat to the top three, Brandon Curry is proving that he could most certainly challenge for the Mr. Olympia crown.

Even in his recent evaluation photos posted on his Instagram, we can see the potential for Curry to be a true dominant force in the Open Weight division. He may not have the size of Roelly Winklaar or the lines of Shawn Rhoden, but Brandon Curry certainly has a the total package.

With a well proportioned physique, tapered waist, massive and defined arms and legs, Brandon Curry has all the elements necessary to become an Olympia champion. If he works on his presentation it’s a good bet that he could make the top three at next year’s show.
