Paralympic Powerlifting Champion Siamand Rahman Has Passed Away at 31

Gone far too soon.

Sad news in the powerlifting world as 31 year old para powerlifiting world champion Siamand Rahman has passed away. According to multiple sources the cause of death was due to a heart attack.

Currently the IPC Powerlifting world record holder in the +107kg (235 lbs) class, Siamand Rahman hefted some pretty insane numbers at the 2016 Paralympic Games with a raw bench press of 310kg (683.4 lbs). He took home gold at both the 2012 and 2016 Paralympic games showing that he was truly a force to be reckoned with in powerlifting.

Siamand Rahman had some lofty goals as he endeavored to be the first man to lift 400kg (880 lbs) in competition.

Despite never getting the chance to do so, Rahman showcased some amazing feats of strength that won’t soon be forgotten. The below clip gives you a taste of just how incredibly strong this young man was.

RIP @siamand_rahman ❤ He just passed away today at the age of 31 after a heart attack ? The strongest Paralympic Athlete ever, he benched a world record of 310kg/683lbs without the use of his legs! He even came close to break the open ATWR (regardless of disability) that stands at 744lbs right now & had the goal to bench 400kg On the last slide you see my short chat with him when i posted his 310kg bench, great guy with a lot of love that showed us that you can accomplish whatever you want if you put your mind to it ? He made History and will be remembered forever ? . . #powerlifting #squat #deadlift #ipf #powerliftingmotivation #rawpowerlifting #bench #uspa #powerliftinglife #powerliftingtraining #powerbuilding #benchpress #parapowerlifting #deadlifts #paralympics #fitness #fitnessaddict #workout #lifting #gym #powerlifter #fitnessmotivation #weightlifting #squatbenchdeadlift #strongman #workoutmotivation #howmuchyabench #gymmotivation #powerlift
