Phil Heath Hints at 2023 Return: “I Am Going to Come Back”

Phil Heath looks poised to make another push for the top.

It appears that seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath is teasing a comeback to the stage in 2023. Heath joined fellow multiple time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler on a recent podcast to discuss his potential future in competitive bodybuilding.

Staying at the top as an elite athlete can be a truly trying endeavor. To get to the top is one thing, but remaining at the top is an entirely different challenge altogether. Many have reached the pinnacle of their chosen sport and have been knocked from their perch. It’s only natural, especially considering that no one can remain at the top of their form in perpetuity.

But that doesn’t mean one can’t Capture lightning in a bottle twice. After all, four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler had to battle back from a crushing defeat in order to return and reclaim his title as champion. Still in top form and with plenty left in the tank, it appears that Phil Heath is contemplating making a final push to reclaim the Mr. Olympia title.

In a recent podcast interview with Jay Cutler, Phil Heath teased a possible comeback is in the works for 2023.

“I was at Planet Hollywood, and a lot of people were just taking pictures and stuff,” said Phil Heath. “It does get old. It feels good though. This is different for me. People are like — you’re right I’m going to get questions about a comeback, and I am going to come back.”

While the Masters Olympia may be an option in the next few years for Phil Heath, the former reigning Mr. Olympia is still in the wheelhouse to compete with the best of the best in Men’s Open. With a chance to once again claim glory, Heath seems focused and ready to give it his all.

“Hey look, all I gotta do is train for three months and see what happens. If I like what I see… then I like what I see.”
