Phil Heath makes statement about his 2019 Olympia status.

With the 2019 Olympia around the corner fans and pundits have been speculating on whether or not we can expect a big surprise at the event. Speculations have run rampant as many wondered if bodybuilding veterans the likes of Kai Greene would make an appearance.

After coming up short at the 2018 Olympia, many have wondered if former reigning Olympia champion Phil Heath would make a surprise comeback to action after suggesting that he’d sit out in 2019. With recent updates on social media showing Phil Heath looking better than ever ahead of the 2019 show, many believed that the former champ would come back to potentially reclaim his crown.

But it appears that won’t be the case.

According to multiple sources in the bodybuilding community, Phil Heath will officially be sitting out of the 2019 Olympia. In a recent statement, the seven-time Mr. Olympia and Generation Iron star had this to say about his decision to skip the competition:

I am thankful to finally announce that I am not competing at this year’s 2019 Mr. Olympia contest.

As many people have known me throughout my career to compete at the sports biggest event, I will be sitting this one out. as I continue to work on other projects, inside and outside of bodybuilding.

I haven’t stopped training, as bodybuilding is something I extremely enjoy doing, but at this point in time, I have chosen to bypass this year’s event.”
