Ronnie Coleman reveals all in an Instagram post.

Ronnie Coleman has been through a lot this past year. Between the joy of a new born child and the pain of a double hip surgery – his life hasn’t had a shortage of major events.  So maybe that’s why his most recent Instagram post has a very long and thoughtful message attached to it.

Ronnie Coleman posted a throwback picture of himself posing on stage against Flex Wheeler – and wrote one hell of a long confessional in the comments below the photo.

To get right to the point, Coleman admits a fact that “no one knows” about how he became a world record holding Mr. Olympia champion. That one fact? Flex Wheeler is the only reason that he ever won Mr. Olympia in the first place.

He writes that two years after becoming a pro he was on tour in Germany and Paris – a bodybuilding tour that Flex Wheeler was also competing in. Flex won both Germany and Paris – but Coleman only landed sixth in both.

Fed up from losing all the time, Coleman stormed into Flex Wheelers room and straight up asked him – how do you win so easily?

And then in that moment, Flex Wheeler shared everything that he was doing to prepare for his bodybuilding competitions in complete detail. Coleman took those words to heart, followed every last detail, and won his very next show.

“Flex shared everything he was doing to prepare for these shows so when I returned back home. I took Flex’s advice word for word and my very next pro show I won. So I truly credit him for giving me the info that got me on the right track of being a professional bodybuilder was all about. There is one other reason that I won My first Mr Olympia and Flex was the only reason I won because of the info he shared with me that I will tell you guys about in another text because this one is already wayyyyyyy too long.”

But what was it that Flex Wheeler said to Coleman? That’s the real question. Let’s face it, this is one of only two 8x Mr. Olympia champions we’re talking about here – and he boils the start of his legendary career all the way down to one conversation with Flex Wheeler.

Coleman promises that he’ll explain in further detail soon, but all we can say is – we wish we were a fly on the wall in that moment. The moment that sparked a legend.

Fact # 1 and the fact everyone should know, Flex Wheeler and are were fierce competitors. Fact # 2, this is the fact no one knows but a few whom I’ve shared with at a few seminars. This fact is Flex Wheeler is partially responsible for the reason I became Mr Olympia. One of the reasons is the information he shared with me 2 years after I became a pro bodybuilder. On a a cold chilly day back in April of 1994 we were doing a tour in France and Germany. Flex had just won the Arnold Classic, he then proceeded to go on this tour of 2 pro shows. One was in a Germany and the other one was in Paris. Flex easily won both of these shows and I placed like 6th in both. At this particular time I was a truly drug free bodybuilder. On this particular day I was fed up with losing all the time so I took it upon myself to go to Flex’s room to ask him exactly what he was doing to win these shows so easily. Flex shared everything he was doing to prepare for these shows so when I returned back home. I took Flex’s advice word for word and my very next pro show I won.
