Coleman professional debut was in 1991 at the IFBB World Amateur Championships and his first win as a professional was at the 1995 Canada Pro Cup. Then after his first place win at the Canada Pro Cup, Coleman’s meteoric rise to fame could not be stopped. This simple recipe allowed Ronnie Coleman to add in the necessary amount of protein and carbs:
- Egg Whites
- Grits
- Kraft Singles
- Molly McButter Cheese Seasoning
Coleman began by boiling four packets of grits in water. This makes up the amount of carbs that he would want to consume during the day.
“Back in the day, I used this basically for my carbs because I had to measure exactly how much carbs I had each day and exactly how much protein I had each day so this is about 50 grams of carbs. I was only allowed about 125 so as you can see, this is not very much carbs.”

While the grits were cooking, Coleman began preparing the egg whites. He would measure two cups of egg whites and cook them in the skillet. Once both were complete, Coleman added the cheese and seasoning into the bowl.
“I measure about two cups of egg whites and all I did was pour them out of the container right into the measuring cup till we got to two cups and that’s about 25-30 grams of protein.”
Ronnie Coleman built a career as one of the greatest bodybuilders of all-time. By the looks of this recipe, he was able to get what he needed into meals while making them taste good as well.
“The reason why I did this was because I was trying to get a nice balanced meal of carbs and protein. Now it is time for me to enjoy these grits, one of my favorite meals of the day.”
