Sam Sulek discussed certain methods of training that could hinder progress.
Bodybuilder Sam Sulek has studied many different methods of training to get to where he is in his career. Recently in a new Youtube video, he got the chance to break down science-based lifting and how it can help or hurt in the gym.
“It’s a snake oil of an idea instead of a product.”
However, Sam Sulek did not want to paint the entire science-based approach with one negative brush. Rather, he thinks that the movement of science-based lifting can turn into a form of online product. And even a sort of elitism. And that thinking of weightlifitng and training in only one way can be a net negative.
“Some of it is a little silly. I don’t think all of it is, so I would never – the point isn’t exactly what they’re doing. But a lot of the idea behind it, and it’s kind of it’s own subculture… it’s a weird elitism… and their whole thing is: ‘this is right, you are wrong.’ And that sucks. That’s not cool. And that’s not even true.”

Sam Sulek Talks Different Training Methods
There are many training methods that Sam Sulek has attempted over the years. When it comes to science-based, he believes that it could do more harm than good.
“There are so many people who get so many different results doing so many different things. The idea that their following is if I’m not perfect, then there’s no point.”
The many factors that go into building your perfect physique can be changed many times but it all comes down to the overall want and desire to get in the gym.
“If you hate working out then you want a routine where it’s one set a day. The ideal would be zero sets. In their world, it’s ‘I wish there was a pill, a real pill, where you never have to workout again.’ This is where my bias can come in because it’s not an objective.”
Sam Sulek is focused on hitting his next set of goals in bodybuilding. Eventually, this could be Open and he has discussed this possibility in the past. While, Men’s Open is not on the horizon at the moment so Sulek will focus on Classic. When he does take the stage again, he wants to present a different package than he did at the Arnold Amateur. Fans will be waiting to hear about Sulek’s plans come 2026 as he returns to the stage with what he brings.
