Samson Dauda Addresses Rumors Of Dropping His Wife As Coach: “I’m Not Getting Rid Of Her For Nothing”

Samson Dauda stressed once again that he would not be where he is without the help of his wife.

Men’s Open competitor Samson Dauda has put together an extremely successful career. Since his early days in bodybuilding, Dauda has given credit to one person for his success — his wife and coach, Marlena.

Earlier this year, Dauda addressed any negative comments being made about being coached by his wife. During a recent conversation with Jay Davies, Dauda doubled down on his relationship with his wife as his coach.

“People need to understand, if she leaves me, I’m stopping bodybuilding. I ain’t doing this alone.”

Dauda has proven that he is a true force in Men’s Open and this has been the case since his debut. In 2022, he finished in the Top 10 at his first Olympia competition and shot up the scorecard in 2023 — when he was top three. After his victory last year, it was a surprising drop to No. 4 but Dauda is prepared to move forward and improve. He is planning to put on more weight because he believes that it “doesn’t look good” if he goes under 300 pounds.

Samson Dauda Addresses Rumors About Getting New Coach

Samson Dauda Instagram

Dauda has been on the rise since becoming a pro bodybuilder. He has had his wife by his side during his career and believes that if she did not want to coach, he would be done competing.

“She dragged me into this sport, she’s responsible for whatever happens on me in this sport. So if she were to say ‘I’m done.’ Okay, great I’m done too. If you really understand, I’m not getting rid of my wife for nothing. If some point in the future, we say we need some extra help, it’s not going to be like bye. She’s my wife.”

Samson Dauda will once again be a threat during the 2026 season and plans to do so in a different way. At this point of the offseason, Dauda is enjoying his time and wants to take on a different challenge. This includes adding more size to his frame following a disappointing finish at the Olympia.

Dauda’s rise through the IFBB Pro League was steady. After turning pro in 2018, Dauda gained momentum with standout performances at shows like the British Grand Prix and the Arnold Classic UK. But his true breakout moment came at the 2023 Arnold Classic, where he battled against Nick Walker and Andrew Jacked to earn the runner-up spot. The bodybuilding world took notice. His combination of mass, shape, and stage presence became impossible to ignore.
