Company Spotlight: Anabolic Designs (AD)

Anabolic Designs (AD) are the company behind the original Shredabull Untamed and their new Shredabull Untamed 2.0. They’re a reputable company that produce a variety of other supplements, including a mass gainer and pre-workout “pump” formula.

We like that this company is focused on bodybuilding – one look at their ambassadors tells you this.

They operate and ship in both the USA and UK, so you should be able to get your hands on this fat burner regardless of where you’re reading this from.

…but you’re here to see us analyze the ingredients in Shredabull Untamed 2.0. So we’ll get straight to it below.

The Ingredients in Shredabull Untamed 2.0: Do They Work?

If you’ve read our other supplement reviews, you’ll know that this is the most important section. So don’t be a lazy c*nt and skip this section bro.

  • Quick question: why are ingredients in supplements important?
  • Answer: you should never pop any pills without knowing exactly what’s in them. If you do, then you could put yourself at risk from side effects.

And that’s not to say that Shredabull Untamed 2.0 will cause side effects.

It can simply be because caffeine is found in this fat burner. If you take this and drink 3-5+ cups of coffee in one day, then you’re putting yourself at risk from jitters – simple as that.

But if you just popped these diet pills without checking out the supplement facts label, then you wouldn’t have known otherwise, right? Hopefully you get the point or GTFO here.

So grab a cup of joe and read about the ingredients below…

NeuroStim Blend

There are 5 ingredients in this proprietary blend labelled “NeuroStim Blend”.

The quantity of all 5 ingredients together is shown as 545 mg. But there’s no indication of the individual dosages of most ingredients.

We looked on the Anabolics Designs website and they state that this fat burner contains 300mg caffeine per serving in their FAQ section. But that’s the only real detail you’re given in terms of individual dosages.

Caffeine Anhydrous

If you’ve taken a fat burner or pre-workout supplement before, then you will have most likely seen “caffeine anhydrous” on a label before.

To save confusion, it’s caffeine that’s been dehydrated and added to supplements in powder form.

Is caffeine in a supplement good or bad? Good question. And the answer is a bit more complex than “yes or no”.

When dosed safely and effectively, caffeine can be a key player in a fat burner or pre-workout supplement. Remember that there is a 300 mg serving of caffeine in Shredabull Untamed 2.0.

If it had a 50-100 mg dosage of caffeine anhydrous, then great. However, the 300 mg caffeine per serving only caters to those with a high tolerance to caffeine.

To put this into perspective, it’s believed that 1 cup of coffee contains around 95 mg caffeine. So it’ll be just over drinking 3 cups of coffee all at once.

Bottom Line: 300mg caffeine in a fat burner (all in 1 capsule serving) can be seen as excessive for the majority of people. That’s our honest opinion. This seems to be designed for those with a high tolerance of caffeine and are able to drink 5+ cups of coffee daily.

N-Dimethylphenethylamine

You’re probably thinking: “what the f*ck is this?”

It’s found in eria jarensis and is known to be a stimulant. That isn’t necessarily a good thing, since there’s already a big 300 mg serving of caffeine anhydrous in the same “NeuroStim Blend”.

Since there’s more than one stimulant in this bad boy, you better have a high tolerance to stimulants. If you get jittery after drinking only 2-3 cups of coffee, then we suggest you look elsewhere for a non-stim fat burner (or fat burner that shows you the exact quantity of stimulants that it contains).

Phenylethylamine (PEA) HCL

Another ingredient that you’ve most likely never heard about in your life. But this one sounds pretty promising, actually.

According to IntegrativePsychiatry, PEA acts as a “nootropic” and is believed to improve your mental performance.

It’s up to you whether that’s a good or bad thing to have in a fat burner. Personally, we’d rather have some more thermogenic ingredients or at least ingredients that support fat loss in some way.

But at least PEA is a beneficial ingredient…and not another stimulant.

N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine (NALT)

Similar to PEA, NALT is another nootropic ingredient that’s known to be able to improve your mental performance. It’s commonly found in nootropic supplements for this reason.

There are more studies on the effectiveness of NALT than PEA. And we appreciate that AD haven’t thrown in another stimulant here.

But the question remains the same: is it able to promote fat loss? There haven’t been enough scientific studies conducted on this to prove whether it can.

We can see the appeal of having this in a pre-workout supplement. Since improved mental performance can help strengthen your mind-muscle-connection. But we’re not convinced about the need for it in a fat burner like Shredabull Untamed 2.0.

Incinerate Thermo Complex

If you look on the supplement facts label, you’ll see that there are 3 proprietary blends in Shredabull Untamed 2.0. This is the second one, which has an overall quantity of 135 mg and contains 5 ingredients.

Gamma-Butyrobetaine ethyl ester HCl

There’s a load of science behind this ingredient and processes that lead to one thing or another.

The main thing you need to know about Gamma-Butyrobetaine ethyl ester HCl is that it’s believed to be able to increase the levels of L-carnitine in your body.

L-carnitine has shown to improve cognition, so can act as a “nootropic”. However, scientific studies show that it’s not as effective as a “fat burner” ingredient.

As we always say, it’s up to you to make your own mind up. We, personally, would have preferred having an ingredient that’s scientifically-backed to be capable of promoting fat loss here.

Higenamine HCL

Surprise surprise, mother*cker. Higenamine is another ingredient in Shredabull Untamed 2.0 that acts like a stimulant (so it’s able to speed up your heart rate etc).

We’re at risk of sounding like a broken record here. But having this many stimulants in a fat burner is only for the hardcore (those that drink sh*t tons of coffee daily without experiencing jitters).

It’s your decision on whether you take this supplement. With a name like UNTAMED, it’s clearly marketed to bodybuilders who want something that packs more of a hit – and with this many stimulants, it will do.

We’ll repeat that those with a low tolerance to caffeine and stimulants should probably look for alternatives. But those that need pre-workouts containing 300-400 mg of caffeine per serving to even feel a “hit”, you should be fine.

White Willow Bark Extract

While you may not have heard about this ingredient before (especially if you don’t inspect many supplement facts labels), white willow bark extract has become increasingly popular in fat burners.

White willow bark has historically been used to treat pain and fever, since it has similar effects to aspirin.

Since ephedrine was banned for use in supplements, people started to look for alternatives to the commonly used E/C/A stack (ephedrine/caffeine/aspirin). Companies then started adding in white willow bark extract along with yohimbine instead, hoping it would achieve a similar fat burning effect.

The bad news is that it doesn’t appear to be effective as a fat burning ingredient on its own.

Cayenne Pepper Extract

If there’s one fat loss ingredient you can’t argue with, it’s cayenne pepper extract.

Eat some cayenne peppers and see what happens. You’ll reach for a cold drink, because that sh*t is spicy. It’s spicy because it contains capsaicinoids, compounds found in hot peppers that’s responsible for their spiciness.

It’s for this reason that many people on a diet often add chili flakes (or chillies) to their meals – to try and fire up their metabolism as much as possible.

There have been countless scientific studies conducted that show the effectiveness of capsaicinoids on fat loss. One study which used capsaicinoids supplementation on healthy human subjects for 12 weeks resulted in significant decreases in body fat percentages.

In conclusion, it’s fair to say that cayenne pepper extract is potentially the most effective fat burning ingredient in Shredabull Untamed 2.0.

Yohimbine HCL

This is a pretty scary ingredient, if we’re being honest.

When aiming to lose body fat, you shouldn’t have to put your health on the line. We’re not saying that yohimbine is 100% dangerous, but it is believed to be risky.

In fact, the U.S Department of Health and Human Services state that “yohimbine has been associated with heart attacks and seizures”.

That being said, there are clinical studies that show yohimbine as being effective at promoting fat loss. So we leave this decision completely up to you, as to whether yohimbine is safe and effective, or if you should avoid it completely.

You can check out our top rated fat burner for bodybuilding which doesn’t contain yohimbine if you want to avoid it.

Thyrocharge Complex

We’ve come to the last proprietary blend in Shredabull Untamed 2.0. This one only contains 2 ingredients in an overall quantity of 40 mg.

Bovine Thyroid

Innovation is Anabolic Design’s game. And in fairness, you don’t see bovine thyroid in all fat burners – but is it effective?

One of the second coming of Shredabull Untamed’s selling points is that it’s aimed at keeping your thyroid function optimal while being on a restrictive diet. Bovine Thyroid has been added in an attempt to deliver this benefit.

However, it’s recommended by some not to take any thyroid supplements unless they are prescribed to you. So again, you’ll need to make your own decision on this one.

Guggul Lipid PE Extract

The second ingredient in the “Thyrocharge Complex”. We’ve never heard of this ingredient previously, so don’t take our word for anything here…

But one extremely well respected source of information mentions that Guggul and its active guggulsterones “have been investigated for their usage in elevating thyroid function, but with lacklustre results”.

Black Pepper Extract

You’ll see black pepper extract in many different supplements. It’s not meant to be a fat burning ingredient in fat burners. Nor is it supposed to be “performance enhancing” in a pre-workout.

The reason black pepper extract is added to supplements is because it contains an active ingredient called piperines; this has shown, in scientific studies, to be able to increase the bioavailability of other ingredients that it’s consumed with.

So that’s the good news. Black pepper extract can potentially make effective ingredients like cayenne pepper extract more effective. But it can also increase the bioavailability of potentially harmful ingredients like yohimbine that’s found in Shredabull Untamed 2.0 too.

Can Shredabull Untamed 2.0 cause side effects?

Looking at the supplement facts label of Shredabull Untamed 2.0, it has some great ingredients that have shown to be effective at promoting fat loss.

That being said, it does come with a few ingredients that we personally consider as “risky”. One of those ingredients is yohimbine.

We’ve mentioned twice already that yohimbine comes with a warning from the U.S Department of Health and Human Services regarding heart attacks and seizures.

That’s not to say that Shredabull Untamed 2.0 comes with this risk at all. But we feel it’s important that you know that.

The other “risk” from our honest opinion is the fact that it contains 300 mg caffeine along with a couple of other stimulant-type ingredients. If you have a low tolerance to caffeine/stimulants, then you may be at risk of jitters – especially if you take this fat burner and drink cups of coffee on the same day.

Shredabull Untamed Review Conclusion: is 2.0 better than the original?

The first coming of Shredabull Untamed was a popular fat burner. So it makes sense that Anabolic Designs created the 2.0 version of it.

Is it better than the original?

The main change we see is that 2-aminoisoheptane has been swapped out for N-Dimethylphenethylamine. Most likely, because it was found that 2-aminoisoheptane to be potentially harmful.

Apart from that, not much has changed.

One of the “deal breakers” for us, personally, is that it contains yohimbine. Anything that comes with a warning from the US Department of Health and Human Services about potentially being a risk of causing heart attacks should be avoided, in our honest opinion.

As we’ve mentioned, that doesn’t mean Shredabull Untamed 2.0 is dangerous simply because it contains yohimbine, but it’s something to be aware about.

The final verdict is up to you to decide. You’re a full grown *ss man.
