A Party Trick For The Ages

We’ve all heard of stories where adrenaline mixes with flow state and causes mere mortals to do amazing things not deemed physically possible. But it’s 2016, and now everything must be broken down to a science, even car lifting.
What was previously thought of as a freak of nature type feat, is now a technique for some powerlifters and strongmen. While car lifting is definitely not mainstream for most fitness enthusiast, there’s a will to tackle the challenge. And when there’s a will, there’s a way.

Step 1: Footwork
The first step to lifting a car is footwork. Go directly behind the vehicle by the back bumper and place your feet shoulder width apart. Grab the bumper with a supinated grip.
Step 2: Tension
Create tension through your whole body. Keep a straight back and Drive your chest and hips in the back of the car while extending your hips and knees together. Make sure to keep good form as it can break down fast under maximum weight!
Step 3: Lift
Right before you lift take a deep breath and brace your torso, create tension in your hips, legs, and back. Simultaneously pull up on the bumper while you perform a leg press at the same time to lock out. Hold for Instagram post and then release.
If you still don’t believe this is possible, check out the video below. The lifter uses a rocking motion to get the weight going before he goes up, which is useful if you’re having problems straight from starting position.
Try this at your your own risk as many cars can weigh upwards of 2,500 lbs. If you can master the art of car lifting you’ll have an insane strength gaining method and party trick to boot. Eat your heart out David Blane.
