This Is Why Crossfit Will Lose Popularity

Strength Wars Movie

Is the trend fading away?

It’s no secret that bodybuilders aren’t the biggest fans of crossfit. There has been a negative stigma on the training practice ever since it was spawned, but for some reason bodybuilders never caught on and the trend has passed them by. That’s not necessarily a bad thing however. Crossfit is proving to be far more dangerous than a lot of participants may have first thought. Many people looking to join a crossfit gym should probably take a step back and do some research before taking the plunge.

For an athletic endeavor that has gained increasing popularity it’s pretty shocking that no one has put in the time to research just how damaging the whole thing can be. Where bodybuilding focuses on improving the physical form through training methods and nutrition that has been broken down to a science, crossfit focuses more on competition at the cost of severe injury.

If anything crossfit should be considered as more of a sporting endeavor than a training program. The whole point of the endeavor is to beat your own time or rep count, to prove your superior to the others in the program. But the unfortunate truth is that rather than focusing on form and technique, many crossfit classes skip the details and go straight into having the participants try to lift as many reps as possible in a given time frame. That idea alone can prove to be the root of many injuries. If a person is to perform compound movements at a speed that their body can’t keep up with then there’s no doubt that an injury is all but inevitable.

Many people who participate in crossfit are in disbelief that the training program they’ve grown to love can be potentially damaging to their physical health. The sense of competition can be a great motivating factor for sure, but it’s certainly not worth it in the long run if it means getting injured and putting you on the shelf for a prolonged period of time.

Marc Lobliner of Tiger Fitness has shared his opinion on why the crossfit craze is starting to fall out of popularity. Take look and listen as to what his opinion on the fitness phenomenon.
