Thor Bjornsson showcases immense strength with a massive deadlift just weeks out from the Strongest Man on Earth.
Thor Bjornsson recently demolished a massive deadlift in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Strongest Man on Earth competition. Hosted by Brian Shaw, the competition will feature a bevy of top strongman competitors each looking to secure the prize money as well as the prestigious title. Thor is on a mission to once again stake his claim as one of the strongest humans on the planet.
Hafthor “Thor” Bjornsson has accomplished a great deal during his illustrious career. He’s dominated the strongman world, winning the World’s Strongest Man title in 2018. Thor Bjornsson has also tackled other endeavors outside of strongman. For one, he became famous for his role as The Mountain on the hit television series Game of Thrones. Since then his popularity skyrocketed and ushered in a new crop of intrigued fans who followed his strongman career afterward.
Thor Bjornsson also tried his hand at boxing. Participating in several bouts, Thor proved his mettle as a boxer and would eventually go on to challenge his old rival Eddie Hall in a thrilling back-and-forth match. From strongman to acting, to boxing, Thor is a man always motivated to tackle something new and intriguing. These days, however, strongman has once again become his focus.
With hopes of adding Strongest Man on Earth to his list of titles, Thor Bjornsson is prepping in the only way he knows how. With several weeks until the big show, Thor is utilizing one of his favorite exercises to improve his strength, the deadlift.
Having smashed through the deadlift world record with an astonishing 501 kg (1,104 lb) lift, Thor Bjornsson is no stranger to lifting massive weight. In a recent training session, Bjornsson pushed himself through another massive deadlift of 456 kgs (1,005.3 lbs).
456kg / 1005lbs deadlift. Felt amazing and huge shoutout to the @transcendhrt team for setting everything up for me and bringing the spirit in today. This is my heaviest deadlift session before SMOE. Will 1000lbs pull be enough to win the deadlift event at @theshawclassic?
