Tom Hiddleston Uses Circuit Training To Stay In Shape
Tom Hiddleston has been working to build a physique of a former soldier. This comes with plenty of training and movement, which Hiddleston prefers in the gym and in his roles. Hiddleston has worked with celebrity trainer Simon Waterson, who has created workouts to be timely.
“The workouts I designed were fast and efficient. The sessions contained all the crucial elements to portray the character both mentally and physically.”
Hiddleston has used his love of running incorporated into his workouts. Waterson has created workouts that feature a combination of strength and conditioning. It is primarily led by circuit training, including one specific workout that forced Hiddleston to complete one set of 30 different exercises during the session. Waterson has incorporated compound movements, bodyweight work, and conditioning.
Another factor in this workout is Waterson keeping Hiddleston’s running to a minimum.
“The baseline of my routine is running, because it keeps my stamina up and it keeps me on an even keel.”
Hiddleston has become known as an intense runner. He has competed in five ultramarathons since 2021. He has often ran a 10k daily to stay in shape but Waterson had to shut this down while he was preparing for certain roles.
“He’s a runner, he wants to run everyday. It’s his form of escapism. To put on more muscle tissue, I have to literally say ‘you can’t go and run 10k every single morning because the muscle tissue I’m cultivating on a daily basis is being burnt off.'”
