Cheating for heavier weight & bragging rights.
Kai Greene said it best once: “Bodybuilding isn’t about how much weight you can lift. It’s about making your body look perfect.” Yet there are a ton of bodybuilders and muscle heads who just don’t think that way. To some – the number you you can claim to lift is a badge of honor. The more weight you can throw overhead, the more of a man you really are.
But this mentality can lead to ego lifts. Sometimes ego lifts lead to a workout fail or injury. Other times it just leads to the bodybuilder putting up some terrible form and the shortest reps you can imagine. Can you really be proud of lifting massive heavy weight if your reps looks like quick short convulsions instead of full range movements?
