Wesley Vissers explains why he believes Chris Bumstead truly deserved first place at Olympia 2019 Classic Physique.

To many fans in the Classic Physique division the biggest upset of the whole Olympia 2019 was that Breon Ansley was dethroned by Chris Bumstead. Truly, both of these athletes were on top of their game – but many believed that Breon was still deserving of the title and was robbed victory.

Classic Physique pro bodybuilder Wesley Vissers recently posted on social media explaining his reaction to Chris Bumstead’s victory – and makes a case for why he believed that Bumstead was the clear victor of Breon Ansley despite many believing it was the wrong call. According to Vissers, the Classic Physique division is meant to emphasis a different aspect of the human body than Men’s Open division. One that focuses on aesthetics and showmanship more than muscle mass and extreme graininess.

It’s always great to hear a fellow competitor throw their opinion in among the masses to get an idea of where these athlete’s heads are at in regards to their own bodybuilding prep. The Classic Physique division is still young and the way the judges reward physiques in these first few years will set the tone and direction for all athletes continue to join this growing division.
