WHY TRAINING PARTNERS ARE THE WORST FOR SERIOUS BODYBUILDERS

Generation Iron Training Partners

Good help is hard to find.

Working hard in the gym is possible to accomplish on your own, there’s no doubting that. But when it comes to training hard it can be beneficial to have a training partner who shares the same motivation, a roll dog that has your back while you’re going through your endeavor for bigger muscle. It sounds like it’d be a simple task, just lifting weights with a friend with similar training goals, but it’s much more complicated than that.

In order to be a great training partner you must exude the kind of work ethic and adaptability needed in a serious bodybuilder. You have to be on time to the gym, must be open to criticism as well as give some of your own and ultimately have a good understanding of the training methods that work best for your and your partner. It’s not as simple as spotting your partner and waiting for your turn to complete your set. The idea is to really make a difference in your partner’s training by improving them and allow them to improve you as well.

Pro bodybuilders face this issue more often than the usual average Joe. Sure, they go through the same issues, but on a far larger scale. The kind of training partner they would require is someone else who has the passion of a pro or a competitor looking to improve themselves for the stage. Like we said, it takes a great level of commitment and when dealing with a pro it likely takes ten times more commitment than the usual hardcore lifter. For every Branch Warren and Johnnie Jackson – there is a pro bodybuilder who trains alone. But don’t take our word for it alone. Another bodybuilder explains his struggle for finding adequate training partners that will improve his training in the gym.
