World Amateur Bodybuilding Association Looks To Scout Talent In Ghana

Ghana to be given special attention by WABBA.

The World Amateur Bodybuilding Association’s international body, based in the United Kingdom, has expressed a desire to rapidly expand some of the association’s less developed chapters. This year, the World Amateur Bodybuilding Association (WABBA) will focus on building their Ghana chapter. On Saturday March 24, 2018, they will host community auditions at Tema Community Center.

The goal will be to scout and annex potential bodybuilding prospects for all upcoming 2018 shows at community district and regional levels.

The most recent auditions in Ashaiman garnered massive participation from enthusiastic locals. Bodybuilding is one of the fastest growing sports in Ghana, so organization of talent is one of the most crucial objectives in the near future. The auditions feature various phases, and those who make it through will have a chance to feature in major WABBA International Ghana Championships scheduled for late 2018.

Lack of resources is also stifling bodybuilding in Ghana; however, some believe this lends
a certain authenticity to the practice. 2014 Mr Ghana Medalist Samuel Kulbila told Zelsh that natural talent shines brightest in a society which boasts little artificial enhancement:

“A lot of people online accuse me of steroids. Where can I get the money to buy these even if I wanted? I can’t afford a proper gym in Ghana. [let alone steroids]. Those who don’t believe me should come to Ghana and do their research. Try to find some steroids I dare you. There are people bigger than me yet 100% natural. People are so brain-washed they see muscle growth and assume steroids. How about they go and eat correctly like me and train twice a day?”

“Watch out for Africa. The natural monsters are here. Just give us the support and we’ll prove the steroid syndrome wrong.”
