Luke Stoltman Claims Victory in Sheffield

The 2025 Britain’s Strongest Man (BSM) competition took place on February 1 in Sheffield, England, where 12 elite strongmen from four nations battled through five grueling events. The contest featured the Sandbag Steeplechase, Deadlift Ladder, Duck & Farmer’s Medley, Log Lift, and Atlas Stones, pushing the athletes to their limits.

Emerging victorious was Scotland’s Luke Stoltman, who dominated the field with 52 out of a possible 60 points, securing the overall win. Joining him on the podium were England’s Shane Flowers (46.5 points) in second place and Andrew Flynn (42.5 points) in third.

  1. Luke Stoltman (SCO) — 52 points
  2. Shane Flowers (ENG) — 46.5 points
  3. Andrew Flynn (ENG) — 42.5 points
  4. Paddy Haynes (ENG) — 42 points
  5. Ben Glasscock (ENG) — 40 points
  6. Gavin Bilton (WAL) — 38 points
  7. Sean Gillen (IRL) — 32.5 points
  8. Adam Bishop (ENG) — 26 points
  9. Matt Dimond (WAL) — 22.5 points
  10. Chris Beetham (SCO) — 19 points
  11. Luke Richardson (ENG) — 6 points (withdrew)
  12. Andy Black (SCO) — 1 point (withdrew)

Event Breakdown and Results

Sandbag Steeplechase

Athletes had to carry and load four sandbags, each weighing 150 kilograms, as quickly as possible.

  • Paddy Haynes – 6 in 47.70 seconds
  • Luke Stoltman – 6 in 55.29 seconds
  • Shane Flowers – 6 in 59.90 seconds
  • Gavin Bilton – 6 in 66.59 seconds
  • Andrew Flynn – 6 in 72.57 seconds

Deadlift Ladder

Competitors had 75 seconds to lift five progressively heavier barbells as fast as possible.

  • Shane Flowers – 5 lifts in 39.59 seconds
  • Paddy Haynes – 5 lifts in 41.27 seconds
  • Sean Gillen – 5 lifts in 49.13 seconds
  • Adam Bishop – 5 lifts in 30.66 seconds
  • Luke Stoltman – 4 lifts in 29.10 seconds

Duck & Farmer’s Medley

This medley combined a 200-kilogram duck walk with a 150-kilogram farmer’s walk, testing both grip strength and speed.

  • Andrew Flynn – 22.81 seconds
  • Luke Stoltman – 24.38 seconds
  • Adam Bishop – 24.58 seconds
  • Shane Flowers – 26.58 seconds
  • Paddy Haynes – 29.42 seconds

Log Lift (160kg for Reps)

Competitors had to press a 160-kilogram log overhead as many times as possible.

  • Luke Stoltman – 5 reps
  • Andrew Flynn – 4 reps (T-2nd)
  • Ben Glasscock – 4 reps (T-2nd)
  • Gavin Bilton – 3 reps (T-4th)
  • Sean Gillen – 3 reps (T-4th)

Atlas Stones

Athletes raced to lift five stones ranging from 120 to 200 kilograms onto platforms within one minute.

  • Paddy Haynes – 5 stones in 25.33 seconds
  • Shane Flowers – 5 stones in 25.98 seconds
  • Luke Stoltman – 5 stones in 26.59 seconds
  • Andrew Flynn – 5 stones in 28.92 seconds
  • Gavin Bilton – 5 stones in 30.41 seconds

Final Thoughts

With an impressive performance across all five events, Luke Stoltman secured the 2025 Britain’s Strongest Man title, reinforcing his dominance in the strongman circuit. England’s Shane Flowers and Andrew Flynn put up strong performances to claim second and third, respectively.

This event set the stage for a thrilling year ahead in the world of strongman, with all eyes now turning toward upcoming competitions like Europe’s Strongest Man and the World’s Strongest Man.
