Antonicelli died last week after a two-year battle with a rare cancer.
Italian fitness star Alessandro Antonicelli passed away last week after a two-year battle with a rare form of cancer at 26 years old.
The news was shared on the influencer’s official Instagram page on Saturday. A GoFundMe page has also been started following his death on Thursday. These donations, which currently sit at over $215,000, will be given to the National Cancer Institute of Milan for further research and treatment.
“Today the world is a bit emptier: Ale flew away, free from pain, finding the peace he deserved.”
Antonicelli was diagnosed with chondroblastic osteosarcoma, which is a rare form of malignant bone cancer, in August 2023. In December of that same year, Antonicelli underwent surgery to remove his femur, knee, and hip joints, and parts of his quad muscles. This came after many rounds of chemotherapy after the doctors found a bone tumor.
In August 2024, doctors found that the cancer spread to Antonicelli’s lower back and clavicle. He attempted radiotherapy but the cancer continued to spread, accroding to TMZ.
Alessandro Antonicelli’s Message Will Continue On
Alessandro Antonicelli had a great passion for fitness from a young age. It led him great places on social media as he began sharing different workout videos years ago. In March, Antonicelli got the chance to train at Gold’s Gym in Los Angeles, where he met Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Antonicelli competed in his first Paralympic weightlifting competition in May before his health continued to decline.
Following his diagnosis, Alessandro Antonicelli began designing clothing to advertise his “F*ck Cancer” and “You’re Not Alone” campaigns. Along with donations raised from the GoFundMe page, Antonicelli’s message will continue to be driven through his friends and family.
“We’ll carry on his F*ck Cancer project with the same determination he taught us: it’s what he would have wanted, and it’s the realest way to keep him alive.”
The fitness world has been saddened by many unfortunate deaths recently. This includes Fabiano Andrade, who passed away just weeks after competing in the Musclecontest Brasil Pro. Fabiano Andrade turned into a competitive bodybuilder at a young age. He was able to build a physique that was able to stand up on stage with the best in the world. This includes NPC appearances in 2019 along with a fourth-place finish at the Arnold Amateur South America.
Just weeks prior, it was reported that IFBB Women’s Physique Pro Jessica Rivera passed away. Rivera put together an impressive bodybuilding career that earned her a Pro Card nearly a decade ago. She became known in Women’s Physique for her impressive conditioning and muscle tone. Rivera was able to become a strong competitor in the division over the course of her career.
