Ali Bilal’s New Physique Update Shows Trademark Conditioning 5 Weeks Out from New York Pro

With five weeks to go until the New York Pro, Ali Bilal is already showing the kind of conditioning that has become his calling card.

Across a series of recent Instagram posts, Ali Bilal looks less like someone easing into peak week and more like an athlete who is already within striking distance of stage-ready. The look is familiar, but still hard to ignore: sharp midsection detail, the deeply etched obliques that put him on the bodybuilding map, and a level of dryness that immediately stands out even in casual lighting.

In the latest update, Bilal’s physique reads clean and complete. There is no obvious lagging area. His upper body remains his strongest asset, with capped delts and a tight waist creating the exaggerated V-taper that judges consistently reward in Men’s Physique. But what stands out most is the consistency. There is no visible spillover, no softness in the lower abdomen, and no signs of being behind schedule. Crazy stuff this far out from competition.

At five weeks, most competitors are still balancing fullness and conditioning. Bilal appears to have already leaned heavily into conditioning without sacrificing shape. It is the same formula that has carried him to the top of the division.

Bilal has steadily built one of the strongest résumés in Men’s Physique in recent years. The Afghan refugee emerged as a serious contender on the international stage before breaking through at the highest level, his career taking off in 2024, with wins at the New York Pro and Pittsburgh Pro, capped off with a runner-up finish at the 2024 Mr. Olympia, and a major win at the Arnold Classic. Those results cemented him as more than just a conditioning specialist; he became a legitimate title threat.

His background adds another layer to his rise. Bilal’s journey to elite bodybuilding is not conventional, shaped by years of adversity before reaching the professional ranks. That perspective often shows up in how he approaches prep, with a level of discipline that rarely wavers.

In a recent YouTube post, Bilal went back to basics, returning to the first gym in which he ever trained. Like Apollo and Rocky training for Clubber Lang – old school energy and old school iron. “Eye of the Tiger” has a better ring to it than “obliques of Bilal,” but the results speak for themselves.

Bilal emphasized that his results are built on consistency rather than shortcuts, saying, “100% is earned, not given.”  It is a simple line, but it tracks with what is visible in his current condition. There are no signs of rushed progress or late adjustments, just a steady, deliberate approach that has him ahead of the curve, and laying down a very confident challenge to his competitors:

“Whoever wins over me, that person is going to be the best. It’s going to have so much momentum.

So if you’re competing in Pittsburgh, New York, make sure you come at your 100%. Imagine you beat me, you win. It’s going to give you so much hype going into the Olympia. ”

Looking ahead to the New York Pro, the question may not be whether Bilal will be in shape, but whether anyone in the lineup can match his level of refinement. Conditioning alone does not guarantee a win in Men’s Physique, but when it is paired with symmetry and stage presence, it becomes difficult to beat.

Right now, Bilal appears to be bringing all three.
