Dawn Whitham passed away after a long and successful career in fitness.

Longtime powerlifter and bodybuilder Dawn Whitham has passed away at 57 years old. A post on her official Facebook page was made to announce the news. There was no exact cause of death revealed but Whitham had been battling brain cancer. She remained an inspiration for all who knew her up until her time of death.

According to the post, Whitham passed away on Tuesday. There are many comments on the post honoring Whitham.

Dawn Whitham’s Career

Dawn Whitham enjoyed success wherever she would compete. She also enjoyed a career as a tattoo artist. Whitham began competing in the late 1980s and built elite strength over the course of her career.

Whitham broke down some of her most impressive lifts on her Facebook page. In competition, she was able to complete a 405-pound squat for six reps and 405-pound bench press for three reps. She also trained with lighter weight and put up some eye-popping numbers. Whitham repped 185 pounds on bench press 32 times and 225 pounds squats for 63 full reps.

After competing in powerlifting for quite some time, Whitham decided to dabble in bodybuilding. She was able to win the NPC Jan Tana Classic in the heavyweight division and was also crowned the overall champion in the show. She enjoyed a long and successful career in both sports as well as in her tattoo shop.

Dawn Whitham showed a passion for art and design early on as well. She graduated at the top of her class at Finch Senior High School in Connecticut before attending UConn and graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
