Ed Sheeran made a decision to turn to fitness and uses this workout to stay in shape.
Ed Sheeran is not only one of the biggest stars in the world, he is someone who has focused on his own fitness recently. Sheeran is well known for his work on stage but has also been putting in plenty of work in the gym to get in better shape. Working with trainer Matt Kendrick, Sheeran has been able to reach his overall goal of feeling better and healthier while cutting out other subtances.
Sheeran made the decision to cut down on alcohol consumption after claiming that he would drink “every single day.” According to Men’s Health, Kendrick shared Sheeran’s goals and claims that they are about overall health.
“He wanted to come off the booze and focus on his fitness, wellness, and overall health. He wanted to feel good, stay energized, and cope with a grueling schedule while looking after himself.”
The duo has worked hard to accomplish these goals and workouts like the one below play a major role.
Who Is Ed Sheeran?
Ed Sheeran has become one of the top pop stars on the planet over the course of his career. Born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England, Sheeran began writing songs at 11 years old and released his first independent project in 2011, signing with Asylum Records that same year.
Sheeran topped charts in the U.K. with his album + (“Plus”) and this jumpstarted what has turned into an award-winning career. This includes four Grammy’s, four iHeart Radio Music Awards, and five Billboard Music Awards. Sheeran even won an Emmy in 2023 for “A Beautiful Game” from Ted Lasso.

Ed Sheeran’s Workout
Kendrick designed a German Body Composition approach for Ed Sheeran when putting together a workout to help reach his goals. This pairs upper- and lower-body movements with little rest in order to drive a strong metabolic response. During supersets, it is important to give max effort at all times. Rest will be between 90-120 seconds between rounds.
| Exercises | Sets | Reps |
| Back Squat | 4 | 6-10 |
| Dumbbell Bench Press | 4 | 6-10 |
| Bulgarian Split Squat | 3 | 6-10 each leg |
| Dumbbell Shoulder Press | 3 | 6-10 |
| Incline Dumbbell Fly | 3 | 10-15 |
| Cable Tricep Pushdown | 4 | 8-12 |
| Air Bike | 4 minutes | 20 second max effort, 10 second rest |
Stretching
Be sure to stretch out those muscles before, during, and after this workout. You’ll want to incorporate some dynamic stretching before and static stretching after your workout for the best results.
Those leg days will be killers, and if you sprinkle in cardio, taking care of your body is more than key for overall health and longevity. Stretching will promote muscle growth while aiding in recovery and proper rest for your body.
Wrap Up
Ed Sheeran has been open about his alcohol use and decided to cut back completely and focus on fitness. Along with Kendrick, the pop star has found a workout routine that helps him reach his goals of losing fat and building muscle. If you follow the plan, including supersets with minimal rest, you can also see benefits like Ed Sheeran. Get ready to push yourself to the limits and witness the impressive gains that await you!
