Men’s Physique bodybuilder Erin Banks has become one of the faces of the division over the years. He is known for his incredible physique built by his work ethic, determination, and motivation — all stemming from where he began. Banks followed a recent trend on social media where people all around the country are sharing throwbacks to the year 2016. Banks decided to join in and share where he was a decade ago.
Banks took to Instagram to show what he looked like before he began his journey in bodybuilding. He also shared an inspirational message for fans out there.
“Here since we’re all jumping into this 2016 challenge. Which I wasn’t gonna post because I was at my lowest mentally.
But one thing that’s never changed? I’ve always found a way to overcome every obstacle in front of me. This is about showing up daily, staying locked in, and trusting the process. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just consistency, one day at a time.”

Banks has established himself as one of the contenders in the Men’s Physique division. He enjoyed a dominant stretch where he won the 2022 Mr. Olympia Men’s Physique title along with two Arnold Classic wins. Banks has become a staple in Men’s Physique on an annual basis in the biggest shows of the year.

Who Is Erin Banks?

Born on June 28, 1988, Erin Banks grew up in Fresno, California. He was a naturally gifted athlete, competing in basketball, football, and track during his high school years. His passion for sports led him to study kinesiology in college, where he developed a deep understanding of human performance and biomechanics—knowledge that later became essential in sculpting his physique for competition.
“One thing life taught me early is this: whatever you do, you put your mind all the way into it. Growing up a three sport athlete, discipline and consistency were non-negotiable. Somewhere along the way, I let myself slip, and I own that.”
Unlike many bodybuilders who begin competing in their teens or early 20s, Banks started bodybuilding later in life. He didn’t step on stage until 2019, but his athletic background, combined with laser-focused dedication, allowed him to progress at a phenomenal pace. After earning his IFBB pro card in 2021, he made history by placing second at the Mr. Olympia in his rookie year—a feat never before achieved in the Men’s Physique division.
