Flex Lewis has been off the bodybuilding stage but discussed a possible return.

Flex Lewis retired from competitive bodybuilding last year but has remained active in the gym and frequently shares updates. There has been talks of Lewis returning to the stage in the future but of course, no plans have been made. It is something that Lewis himself discussed on a recent episode of his podcast Straight Outta The Lair.

Lewis enjoyed great success on stage during his career that spanned over a decade. He was at the top of 212 Olympia, winning seven consecutive titles before calling it a career. In retirement, Lewis remains active in the fitness world. He opened Dragon’s Lair Gym in Las Vegas and has a successful podcast.

Fans have been able to keep up with Lewis this way and he used the fans as motivation when thinking about a comeback.

“The fans have played a massive part in my life. They’ve been a massive part of my whole career. I start thinking ‘man, I should do it for the fans. I should do it for the fans.

These guys deserve to see me back up there, get that title, fill a void that I was hoping to do and never was able to achieve.”

From there, Lewis discussed competing in Men’s Open rather than the 212 division.

Flex Lewis Discusses Bodybuilding Future And Legacy

Since Flex Lewis retired, he has watched two competitors that he defeated go onto become Mr. Olympia.

“I knew what I was and I knew who I was so when I decided to retire on my terms, not because of an injury, not because of my wife or whatever different variable, that first year was easy because I had done it. Now, the first and second guy in the world, and flipped rules this year, I’ve beaten both.”

Lewis has not stopped improving his physique since stepping off the stage. There is still plenty of motivation there and this has sparked rumors of a return.

“I’m very confident but there’s a fine line between confidence and cockiness and I’ve tried to walk that line my entire career.

The work ethic, on one hand, is there and the potential of genetics is in the other and potential land genetics will get you to a certain level but work ethic will always beat that. But if you have genetics and for ethic, that potential will always be lived.”

Flex Lewis did all he had to do in the 212 division but if he were to attempt to comeback in Men’s Open, there will be plenty of eyes on the bodybuilding legend.
