Thomas was an IFBB Pro that has been competing professionally since the early 2000s. Thomas was one of the youngest females to earn her IFBB Pro Card at just 21 years old. Because of this, many thought that she would have a promising career awaiting. Unfortunately, Thomas faced difficulties with osteoarthritis that started causing her to have severe health issues, rendering her early immobile.

Joanna Thomas’ brother posted on Facebook that she tragically lost her life on Sunday, April 26th. The news was heartbreaking and it affected everyone in the bodybuilding community. Since the announcement of Thomas’ passing, many people have taken to social media to mourn her loss.

Given the circumstances of Joanna’s health condition, this breaks our hearts. She has been suffering for a while, not being able to leave her house during her final days. Joanna no longer has to suffer, she can now rest peacefully.

Joanna Thomas’ bodybuilding career was solid. She earned her Pro Card in 1998 and competed in big shows, including Ms. Olympia. During her years as a bodybuilder, she became a nurse at the same time she pursued the bodybuilding career. Thomas later retired from the sport in 2007.

The Generation Iron Fitness Network would like to offer our deepest condolences to those who were closest to Ms. Thomas. She was an amazing spirit and always willing to help others. She is a pioneer of the sport that will never be forgotten. Joanna Thomas will be missed.
