Actor John Goodman Reveals Insane 200-Pound Weight Loss Transformation

Transformation

John Goodman took on a completely different lifestyle to make a change.

Actor John Goodman has made significant changes to his lifestyle and that has resulted in massive weight loss. Goodman has dropped more than 200 pounds and was not shy about showing it off. On Sunday, Goodman appeared on the red carpet during the 2023 Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco.

Goodman is known for his roles in television series Roseanne and The Righteous Gemstones. He has also appeared in many films, both in person and as a voiceover in an animation. While in the midst of his career, Goodman’s weight reached 400 pounds and he vowed to make a big change.

“It’s a life of rehab but it’s a labor of love.”

It all began for Goodman in 2007 when he decided to make some significant changes to his diet and habits, along with adding workouts into his daily routine.

John Goodman’s Incredible Transformation

In 2007, John Goodman cut alcohol, which became the first big change. While this was an affective measure, he did not take the next step until he hired a trainer to bring accountability. Goodman explained some old habits to ABC back in 2017.

“In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits. This time, I wanted to do it slowly. Move, exercise. I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore.”

Goodman hired Mackie Shilstone to be his personal trainer. He has been an important part of Goodman’s transformation as a new diet and workout plan was put into place upon his hiring.

“This didn’t happen overnight. It’s been an ongoing process. There needs to be strategic planning. This time, he really wanted to do it,” Shilstone said back in 2015.

John Goodman’s new diet plan took on a Mediterranean-style. He implemented plenty of fish, vegetables, fruit, olive oil, and nuts. Along with his new diet, Goodman committed to working out six days a week and walking 10,000 steps. His workouts are focused on either the treadmill or elliptical.

At 71 years old, the transformation that John Goodman has went through is truly remarkable. He is determined to keep the weight off and knows that his current plan is working for him.
