That is why Kai appreciated seeing the Tren Twins step outside their normal bodybuilding environment and immerse themselves in another athletic culture.
Traveling across the world to experience sumo wrestling offers much more than social media content. It exposes athletes to different coaching philosophies, different movement patterns, different cultures, and entirely new perspectives on discipline and physical performance.

Despite those differences, Kai refused to dismiss Shawn Ray’s accomplishments. He explained that Shawn Ray built an incredible career and secured an important place in bodybuilding history. Regardless of someone’s opinions or personality, those achievements deserve recognition and respect.
But once that respect was established, Kai delivered his honest opinion. Kai repeated that he believed the idea was “bullshit.”
His reasoning centered around the meaning of qualifying for the Mr. Olympia. Earning an Olympia qualification represents years of sacrifice, discipline, consistency, and elite-level performance.
If an athlete reaches that level, Kai believes they have absolutely earned the right to stand on bodybuilding’s biggest stage. Whether they finish first or last should not determine whether they deserve the opportunity.

Kai cautioned that giving individualized coaching through a brief podcast question is difficult. Still, he offered several foundational principles.
