Liam Hemsworth’s Push Workout Used to Bulk for Role in ‘The Witcher’

Liam Hemsworth’s trainer shared this bulking workout used to add size.

Actor Liam Hemsworth is no stranger to roles where he has to transform his physique to fit the character. He recently took over in the fourth season of Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ and used a strict workout program to get ready for the role. Hemsworth worked with celebrity trainer Mark Humphreys, who spoke with Men’s Health about Hemsworth’s overall training regimen.

The Hemsworth brothers, Liam and Chris, have become icons on the big screen and their muscular builds remain a big reason for this. During COVID, Chris created an app called “CentrFit” to share workouts for viewers during the pandemic. When gyms were closed, Hemsworth made sure that people could continue to get workouts in during their time at home. He continues to use the workout app and hit some home workouts that serve different purposes.

Liam has taken on many of these workouts as well as the duo shares many updates for fans on social media. This includes a brutal pilates workout, which helped the duo build strength in many ways. This was a session that was led by Chris’ CentrFit app and it certainly tested their strength by the looks of it. It was a workout that was aimed to build core strength and joint flexibility. This is just one way the Hemsworth brothers have built impressive physiques.

Liam Hemsworth’s Push Workout

The push workout that Liam Hemsworth was put through was demanding in order to build the best physique possible. Below, find the six exercise selections:

  • Chest Press Machine: 10-12 reps – 1-2 warmups with 2 working sets
  • Cable Flyes: 3 sets, 10-12 reps
  • Dumbbell Lateral Raises: 10-15 reps – 2 straight sets with 1 drop set
  • Lying Cuffed Y Raise: 2 sets, 10-12 slow reps
  • Tricep Pushdown: 12-15 reps – 3 sets then a rest-pause set
  • Overhead Tricep Rope Extension: 2 sets AMRAP

During his work for this role, Hemsworth was put through many different training styles — in and out of the gym.

“Liam’s schedule was incredibly demanding with all the stunt training, sword fighting and choreography, topped with hours of hair, makeup, and costume. So we would get in, shut up and focus.”

The Hemsworth brothers have turned into heartthrobs on the big screen with a huge following on social media. This is where they have shared recent workouts and physique updates. Liam has even graced the cover of Men’s Health because of his work to improve his physique. This includes strengthening muscles in many different ways. Liam Hemsworth has looked shredded during his work in The Hunger Games series, which he became best known for. Chris Hemsworth has also done well in the box offices with films like Thor and The Avengers.

The overall work ethic, motivation, and of course genetics, remain a major reason why Liam Hemsworth will look how he does in the upcoming season of his show.

“This guy is insanely strong and the Hemsworth brothers know how to pick their parents. Our training plan would be mainly PPL, when necessary we liked to throw in extra arms and delts, because when you see how he looks in season five, you’ll get it.”
