Licis took on the incredible challenge of pulling a 16-ton Viking ship while on his trip through Burkina Faso in Africa. He traveled in many ways, including by air and water, before hitting Norway for this major challenge.
“This full-scale reconstruction of the Myklebust ship stands as the largest Viking ship ever discovered. More precisely, the largest one we have found remains of and remade.”
Licis won the World’s Strongest Man crown in 2019 before suffering some bad luck that kept him out of competition the next year. He was able to return to prominence in 2021 by winning the Rogue Invitational. Licis also won the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic before taking time off to focus on other ventures in his life.

Martins Licis Takes on Insane Challenge of Pulling Viking Ship
Martins Licis stood in front of a large crowd to watch him do the impossible. He stood in front of the ship and marveled at its overall size.
“When facing a Goliath, we forget we’re YouTubers and pull out our metaphorical slingshot to take on the impossible. Contest mode activated.”
Licis used lifting chalk for grip while being hooked up to a harness secured on the Viking ship with a rope. The Strongman leaned forward at a 45-degree angle, using his overall strength and tension, as the ship began creeping forward. The crowd celebrated the accomplishment of Licis before he dropped the rope and began cheering.
“A few days ago, I pulled the Myklebust out of the museum and now I’m on it, really special…To succeed out here, to do this pull has opened many doors and possibilities as a Strongman ambassador.”
