A Global Phenomenon with Mexican Roots
Over the past century, bodybuilding and fitness have evolved into a worldwide phenomenon, shaping health and strength culture across continents. Mexico is now emerging as a dynamic hub for this movement, witnessing a significant resurgence in fitness enthusiasm. Leading the charge is The Fit Weekend, an event that has grown from modest beginnings to one of the most celebrated fitness expos in the world.
Felix Rojo’s journey began with a passion for fitness that led him into the supplement and training equipment industry. Recognizing the immense, untapped potential within Mexico’s fitness community, Rojo envisioned a flagship event that would not only unify local fitness enthusiasts but also draw international attention. In 2017, his dream became a reality with the inaugural The Fit Weekend in Mexico City.
What started as a gathering of 1,500 attendees and 15 booths has since ballooned into an event attracting tens of thousands of fans and showcasing over 100 brands. Featuring appearances by global fitness icons such as Phil Heath, Dana Linn Bailey, Simeon Panda, and Sadik Hadzovic, The Fit Weekend has firmly established itself on the world stage. This year’s event is set to be the most ambitious yet, with Rojo promising a spectacle that will cement Mexico’s place as a leader in the fitness world.
The Human Stories Behind the Movement
Mexico Fit isn’t just a documentary about an event—it’s a celebration of the people who make Mexico’s fitness culture unique. The film captures the spirit of pro athletes and entrepreneurs, whose dedication and grit have helped shape this vibrant movement.
Among the featured stories are those of IFBB Pro bodybuilder Ismael Martinez, former bodybuilder José Cortés, and Alejandro Fronseca, a fitness entrepreneur best known for his training belt and equipment brand Beast Sport.
These personal narratives illuminate the challenges and triumphs that define Mexico’s fitness scene, providing an inspiring glimpse into lives transformed by passion and perseverance.
The documentary will also take viewers on a journey across Mexico, with stunning visuals shot at iconic locations, including the awe-inspiring Teotihuacán pyramids of the sun and moon. These historical landmarks serve as a powerful backdrop, connecting Mexico’s rich cultural heritage with its modern fitness aspirations.
