The 12 year old known online as Cauzinho, also nicknamed “Mini Monster,” showcases his incredible transformation in effort to break myths about children lifting weights

Weightlifting and bodybuilding is often seen as a healthy endeavor (with exception to the public perception about pro bodybuilding and steroids. The desire to improve yourself, eat better, and become stronger is one to be valued. However, it is also common for adults to think that children should avoid serious weightlifting until a certain age. That’s why the viral Instagram and TikTok 12-year-old, Cauzinho, is aiming to break that line of thinking. Earlier this year, Cauzinho shared a one-year physique transformation video that is setting the internet on fire.

Commonly referred to as “Mini Monster,” Cauzinho is a 12-year-old Brazilian boy who is in love with bodybuilding and weightlifting. It’s not uncommon for young boys to look up to superheroes and muscle-bound action stars. But Cauzinho has decided at a very young age to start taking action now. Within one year, he’s already transformed his physique into a tiny shredded statue. People online are taking notice.

Earlier in January 2023, Cauzinho took to Instagram to share his official one-year before and after transformation. The first picture, taken on January 3rd, 2022 is compared to a photo of him as of January 31st, 2023. He now shows solid conditioning and a noticeable six-pack abs. But the point of his post was not to brag about his accomplishments. It was to spread the message about bodybuilding and children. He wants to showcase how his bodybuilding lifestyle not only brings him a stronger physique – but also encourages discipline and goal-setting habits at a very young age. The caption of the post – which also shows some video of himself training – spreads his positive message and explains his journey.

The caption is written in Portuguese, but you can see a translation below:

Many have the myth that even a child can’t train. Started at 1.35cm, and today I’m 1.47cm. Thank you to all the professionals who accompanied us and made this process worthwhile”. Expressing his heartfelt gratitude toward his followers, he stated, “Gratitude to all my followers who are here to support me! Family we are together!

The possible dangers of bodybuilding at a young age

It should be noted that there are some medical opinions that warn against weightlifting too heavily at a young age. Doctors have detailed how putting too much strain on young muscles, tendons, and areas of cartilage that have yet turned into bone (known as growth plates) – can stunt growth and cause potential long term issues.

However, that is not to say that a child cannot lift weights and aspire to improve their physique. Doctors claim that light resistance exercise and controlled movements are best for kids. And they can be helpful in giving children a foundation for healthy living while also instilling disciplined habits. This can make it easier for these individuals to stay healthy as they get older into middle age.

Cauzinho might not fit into this exact category and is likely pushing the limits beyond what doctors would feel comfortable with. However, the same can be said about professional bodybuilding or any high level strength sport. Cauzinho has passion for bodybuilding and strength. He is using that passion to build healthy habits – and the results are astounding. No wonder he already has 286,000 followers.
