Nick Walker is officially dropping out of the 2024 Olympia for the second consecutive year.

The 2024 New York Pro champion, Nick Walker will be waiting another year to take the Olympia stage. On Saturday, October 5th, Nick Walker’s coach, Matt Jansen, shared news on Instagram and directly with Generation Iron that he would not be competing at the 2024 Olympia. This marks the second consecutive year that he will miss the biggest show of the year.

The video published was recorded earlier in the week on Thursday, October 3rd – according to the statement made by Matt Jansen. With little preamble, he directly noted that Nick Walker would be dropping out of the Olympia competition. Stating,

“It is Thursday afternoon October 3, this is not a video that we wanted to make especially after the video that Nick had to make last year but we made a decision this week for Nick to be not competing in this year’s Mr. Olympia.”

Matt Jansen went on to explain the reasoning for the sudden last minute drop out. He noted that they wanted to be completely transparent about why Nick Walker would not be competing at the Olympia.

“Honest truth is that Nick right now in terms of his body in terms of the bodybuilder that you guys know, his body is just not there. I’ve been wrestling with this for a couple weeks. Obviously Nick and I have had very intentional conversations but we feel that it’s best not only for himself, his career, what’s most important, but also for the Olympia, for the current physique that Nick has to not be represented on the Olympia stage.”

Nick Walker also made a statement to his fans, sharing his mindset as to how he came to the decision withdraw from the competition.

“My body just said I need a break. I need to relax. That was it,” shared Walker. “I think a lot of the stress that I endured over the past year, it just kinda caught up and this prep obviously did not go the way we wanted it to and it sucks because this is the second year in a row that I got to miss the Olympia that I worked so hard for.”

Nick Walker’s Recent Challenging Olympia Journey

Walker missed the 2023 Olympia after suffering a hamstring injury. This kept him out of the gym ahead of the competition and forced him to pull out of the show. Walker quickly returned to training and had his sights set on this year’s Olympia.

Walker returned to win the 2024 New York Pro but received criticism for his performance. Many believed he would not bring his best package to the Olympia but Walker initially welcomed challenges. As the competition has creeped closer, many predictions featured Walker returning to the top five.

Walker quickly rose to the top of the Men’s Open division in a relatively short amount of time. In 2021, he was crowned champion of the Arnold Classic before hitting the Olympia. He has two top-five finishes and was a hopeful for this year as well.

Fans were hoping to see Walker return to the stage and put on a show. They will have to wait one more year as Walker now sets his sights on 2025.
