We may know him as Roelly – but his full name is Egberton Rulove Etienne-Winklaar. But whether we call him Roelly, Egberton, or simply “The Beast,” the end result is the same – a massive powerhouse of an athlete and constant Olympia contender.

Roelly first came into prominence in the US after his overall win at the 2009 NPC Arnold Amateur Championships – catching the eyes of judges and fans alike with his rare combination of massive size and shredded conditioning. Suddenly the world was on watch for what he could do next.

The next year he turned pro and skyrocketed into a bodybuilding superstar eventually claiming first place at the 2010 New York Pro. Within just one year Roelly exploded onto the scene. Seemingly out of nowhere a new star bodybuilder was born.

While many may best remember him for his interesting dynamic with his trainer, Grandma, in Generation Iron – he has since changed trainers (which may come as a slight disappointment to fans). But while his trainer has changed his conditioning has not. We look forward to seeing what he can do at this year’s Olympia.
.

Will He Take the Sandow?

Having only placed 7th at last year’s Olympia and going up against some major contenders this year again; it is unlikely that Roelly will hit near the top at Olympia. His closest struggle will be trying to place in the top 5. Can he pull that off? We hope so – and will find out soon enough.
