Phil Heath might not be competing in 2023 but he wants to remain in competition shape this summer.

Fans of bodybuilding legend Phil Heath have been hoping for a comeback for years now — and they will have to wait one more. Heath recently confirmed that he will not be returning to the stage in 2023 but plans to keep his physique in its best shape.

Heath totaled seven Olympia titles over the course of his career. In 2020, he stepped on stage for the final time but has been active in the gym ever since. During the 2020 show, Heath finished third and fans have been waiting for his return ever since.

Despite keeping his physique in championship shape, Heath has ruled out a return in 2023. This does not mean that it is off the table for 2024.

Phil Heath On Potential Return: “Not This Year”

Phil Heath has been improving his physique in many ways, hinting at a possible return. During a recent talk with TranscendHRT, Heath shared that he will take some more time before coming back.

“So everyone’s dying to know if yours truly will grace the bodybuilding stage once again. Not this year.”

Heath has shared many physique updates looking as shredded as ever. He continues to put on size and work on his conditioning to this point. That is something that is going to continue despite not stepping on a competitive stage in 2023.

“This summer, I do plan on looking as if I am doing an event, if that makes anyone happy. I’m just going to let nature takes its course. I’m sitting around 255 pounds right now. I’ve been a lot leaner and I feel like everything has been working really well.”

Phil Heath shared that he will continue to provide updates, both on social media and speaking with Transcend. There is no official word on a return in 2024 but reading between the lines, fans will keep up hope.

Heath is one of the top bodybuilders of all-time and his career is not over just yet. Even with the return of Masters Olympia, it is clear that Heath wants to return to Men’s Open in the Olympia itself. It will be interesting to see how Heath improves further after all of the progress made to this point.
