R.I.P. Rod Koontz.

For those of you who remember pro bodybuilder Rod Koontz, you probably recognized him as the massive rugged man with a mustache and an iconic fixture of the SoCal bodybuilding scene. A predominant competitor in the 80’s, his major highlight was his 1977 AAU Mr. USA wins in the tall and overall titles.

According to reports on Flexonline, Rod was hospitalized with cancer in June of 2014 only to later have his condition worsen after catching pneumonia earlier this year. Sadly, his conditioned worsened until passing away on August 25th.
