Ronnie Coleman reflects on his years competing in the 90s, his genetic superiority, and his insane work ethic.

It’s no secret that Ronnie Coleman has superior genetics for bodybuilding. But that alone isn’t want made him one of the most legendary Olympia champions of all time. It was his hard work. He didn’t rely on his genetics. Instead he tried to train harder than everyone in the room. He succeeded and became an 8x Mr. Olympia champion. In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Ronnie Coleman opens up about his genetics, his work ethic, and how he combined the two to become the best in the world.

Even though we released an entire feature film documentary about Ronnie Coleman, there was still hours of interview footage unused in the film. Ronnie Coleman’s story is vast and full of detail. It sadly all couldn’t fit in the movie. That’s why we are releasing extended clips from his interview out of our GI Vault.

This week, we dive into Ronnie Coleman reflecting on his time training and competing in the 90s. It was all mostly a blur for him. This is due to not only how seriously he took training and bodybuilding but also because he was still working as a cop. His life was almost all work and no play. Of course, bodybuilding was his passion so the hard work was something he loved.

That hard work also explains how he was able to become one of the most legendary Olympia champions in the history of the sport. Ronnie admits that he has great genetics. But he didn’t let that give him an ego or help him relax. Instead, he trained harder. If his genetics gave him an advantage, then his plan was to double that advantage by working harder than every other competitor.

Ronnie Coleman’s hardcore lifts are well known. His insane genetics are also well known. But to hear Ronnie Coleman explain just what it took to combine the two to achieve his greatness is enlightening indeed.

He also acknowledges that other competitors of his time had certain advantages over him. He believes that Flex Wheeler has the greatest genetics in the world. This includes being better genetically than himself. So what gave Ronnie the advantage? He worked harder. Or at least Ronnie Coleman believes he did. He thinks that he was able to outwork Flex. Ronnie thinks he was able to outwork nearly everyone.

It’s hard to argue with that statement when you see the results. Many fans in bodybuilding consider Ronnie Coleman to be the greatest bodybuilder of all time. He’s also only one of two competitors to earn eight Olympia title wins.

But don’t just take our word for it here. Check out Ronnie Coleman go into detail about his memories of his earlier years competing in the 90s, his work ethic, and his thoughts on his own genetic potential.
