Ronnie Coleman shared his first update after being treated for sepsis.
Bodybuilding legend Ronnie Coleman shared his first update himself after battling sepsis.
The 8x Olympia champion was hospitalized on June 30 with what was described as a “serious medical emergency.” Coleman’s family continued to provide updates via social media and shared that it was an infection in his blood. On Friday July 11th 2025, it was confirmed that Coleman had become septic.
On Sunday, Coleman took to Instagram to share a message about his journey over the last two weeks. He mentions the support from his fans, the Ronnie Strong Initiative, and his wife Susan.
“It’s been a long and scary two weeks battling my complications from sepsis — one of the toughest fights of my life. But I couldn’t have fought so hard without the love and support from all of my fans and especially my wife, Susan.”
The 61-year-old first hinted at the emergency on social media last weekend, informing fans he would not be able to travel to the United Kingdom for a scheduled appearance. “Due to a medical emergency, I won’t be attending the event,” Coleman shared. “But don’t worry—I’m getting the best care possible.”

Ronnie Coleman Provides Latest Update on Condition
Ronnie Coleman’s family has been posting updates on the situation as a whole over the last two weeks on his official social media page. Coleman was able to share his own update over the weekend and speak on the strength given to him by others.
“Your prayers, your messages, and your belief in me gave me the strength when I needed it most.
It’s thanks to you all that I’m as #RonnieStrong as I am today.
Yeah Buddy… it Still Ain’t Nothing But A Peanut!”
Coleman’s team started a team that would be working to raise money to support his recovery and raise awareness about sepsis. The initiative, called RONNIE STRONG, will donate proceeds to Sepsis Alliance. Sepsis can last anywhere between 6-18 months. It occurs when your immune system has a reaction to an infection, which is extremely dangerous. Many types of infection can trigger sepsis, which causes extensive inflammation throughout your body and can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and even death.
On Monday morning, Ronnie Coleman also shared his first video update, speaking directly to his audience about his experience battling sepsis.
