Women’s Physique competitors Sarah Villegas and Natalia Abraham Coelho clash at the 2026 Olympia press conference
The rivalry between Sarah Villegas and Natalia Abraham Coelho showed no signs of cooling down at the 2026 Olympia press conference. With Villegas doubling down on her comments about Coelho’s alleged PMMA use – and receiving boos in response.
For the first time since last year’s Women’s Physique Olympia, Sarah Villegas and Natalia Abraham Coelho found themselves face to face in a highly anticipated public setting. The two athletes were seated next to each other during the press conference, creating an obvious opportunity to revisit one of the biggest controversies surrounding their rivalry.
That controversy stems from the aftermath of the 2025 Women’s Physique Olympia, where Coelho defeated Villegas to claim the championship. Following the competition, Villegas publicly raised allegations questioning Coelho’s physique and suggested that PMMA or another site-enhancing substance may have been used.
Those allegations were never publicly proven. Generation Iron previously reported that no publicly available medical documentation or other evidence had established that Coelho used PMMA.
Now, nearly one year later, the issue was brought directly back into the spotlight.
Sarah Villegas Says Her Opinions “Haven’t Changed”
The interaction between the two competitors initially appeared cordial. Villegas and Coelho shook hands before the conversation eventually shifted toward their past rivalry and the controversy that followed the 2025 Olympia.
When Villegas was asked directly whether she still stood by the comments and opinions she made regarding Coelho following last year’s Olympia, her response was brief and unmistakable.
“They haven’t changed.”
The answer immediately changed the tone of the conversation.
Villegas then made it clear that she does not intend to spend the 2026 Olympia focused on the controversy. Instead, she said her attention is on bringing the best possible version of herself to the stage.
But the way she described that goal added another layer to the exchange.
Villegas stated that she intends to bring a physique so exceptional that she cannot be defeated, “no matter what means are being used.”
The statement immediately drew a reaction from the crowd.
While some members of the audience cheered, others could be heard clearly booing following the comment, underscoring just how contentious the rivalry between the two Women’s Physique stars has become.
Natalia Abraham Coelho Responds
The press conference hosts subsequently attempted to steer the conversation in a different direction. With Villegas and Coelho sitting side by side, the hosts encouraged the two athletes to bury the hatchet and turn the page on their previous conflict.
Coelho was given the opportunity to respond first.
Rather than engaging directly with the PMMA allegations, Coelho explained that she does not view the situation as a fight between the two competitors.
“If there is any fight, they are fighting with themselves because I haven’t said anything,” Coelho stated.
Coelho emphasized that she has chosen to focus on positivity and ignore the negative comments surrounding her. She also pointed out that she has not engaged with the accusations or the controversy publicly.
From Coelho’s perspective, there is therefore nothing for her to put behind her.
Her response represented a stark contrast to Villegas’ earlier statement that her position on the controversy had not changed.
Villegas Refuses to Bury the Hatchet
Despite the hosts’ attempt to move the two competitors forward, Villegas did not appear interested in declaring the rivalry settled. Instead, she returned to the same message she had emphasized throughout the exchange: her focus is on herself, her physique and the competition.
Rather than continuing to debate the allegations, Villegas made it clear that she intends to let her physique do the talking when the competitors finally take the stage.
That approach could make the 2026 Women’s Physique Olympia one of the most closely watched showdowns of the weekend.
The history between Villegas and Coelho is already significant. Coelho entered the 2025 Olympia as one of the division’s leading contenders and ultimately defeated Villegas to capture the Women’s Physique title. The aftermath produced accusations and widespread discussion, but the underlying PMMA allegations remained unproven.
The controversy resurfaced again in August 2026 after additional claims were made publicly concerning information allegedly provided to Villegas following the 2025 Olympia. However, those claims also have not been independently verified, and the available reporting does not establish that Coelho used PMMA.
Now the two athletes are back on the same Olympia stage. And despite the attempts to put their history behind them, the 2026 Olympia press conference demonstrated that the tension has not disappeared.
Villegas says her opinions have not changed. Coelho says she has chosen not to engage with the negativity. Ultimately, however, neither athlete will have the final word until they step onstage.
The 2026 Women’s Physique Olympia will determine whether Coelho can defend her title and whether Villegas can reclaim the championship she lost one year ago. With their rivalry once again taking center stage, all eyes will be on the physiques they bring when the competition officially begins.
