This “10 Bodybuilders That Went Too Far” List Is A Random Mess

by GI Team Updated by GI Team on Feb 15, 2017

Generation Iron Bodybuilders That Went Too Far

An uneven list of bodybuilders that paid “the ultimate price.”

Ronnie Coleman made waves recently by posting about his latest back surgery (that’s his seventh surgery over all since bodybuilding). He showed the world that he could barely walk but regretted nothing. Ronnie Coleman pushed the limits of what a bodybuilder could do – so much so that he put his entire body at risk. A sacrifice he says he would make again. That’s how passionate he is about bodybuilding and being an 8x Mr. Olympia champion.

Which brings us to this new top 10 list that’s been floating around the internet. Titled, “10 Bodybuilders That Went Too Far,” this seems like a very tantalizing list to skim through. But what it turns out to be is a strange mix of synthol freaks (both proven and alleged), random bodybuilder murderers, and a few cases of young deaths that were blamed on the bodybuilding lifestyle.

Honestly, putting Arlindo de Souza on the same list of tried and true bodybuilders like Andreas Munzer or Nasser El Sonbaty is just down right insane. Sure, all of these people, somehow or another, “pushed things too far” – but I would put synthol addiction on a totally different playing field than say… going crazy and murdering a husband you believe is cheating on you.

This video tries to tie it all back to bodybuilding. Claiming that the early death of Nasser was probably related to an unhealthy bodybuilding lifestyle… or that Bertil Fox was driven insane by steroids which caused him to kill his wife. But really a lot of this seems like a bit of a stretch. Hell, it might not be true… but Gregg Valentino has always claimed he never used synthol to pump up his arms. Yet this video claims he did in fact use synthol as if it was undisputed fact (which… well, might be true).

Regardless, this video is quite the interesting batch of bodybuilding/muscle obsessed personalities. And it’s definitely an entertaining watch. It might be a mess, but it’s a glorious mess. A train wreck you just can’t keep from watching. You can check that video out right here:
