Wesley Hunt makes fitness a priority despite a packed schedule.
Many around the world, no matter your profession or overall goals, can put together a fitness plan that is able to build the best version of your self possible. Whether you are in the center of the fitness world or part of the U.S. government, health and wellness can remain a top priority — as shown by U.S. Congressman Wesley Hunt.
Hunt, who hails from Houston, is a West Point graduate and former Apache pilot who has drawn national attention for his discipline and commitment to service. He is a father of three who enjoys spending time with his family, which is a priority no matter what venture of life he is on. Hunt was recently appointed to the Board of Visitors for the United States Military at West Point by President Donald Trump. He is able to use his experience in many beneficial ways in terms of leadership, service, and the importance of mental and physical well-being.
“I focus on having the mental acuity to get up and do something that makes me sweat every day. I don’t go on long runs, I don’t go on ruck marches anymore, and push-ups and sit-ups are behind me. Now it’s long, fat-burning walks and tough, strenuous weight training.”
Hunt continues to grow his national profile with appearances on The Joe Rogan Experience and Real Time with Bill Maher. No matter where he is, Hunt prioritizes his own fitness and follows a very strict routine, which is shaped by eight years in the Army.

Wesley Hunt’s Training Routine
Wesley Hunt has been able to give back through fitness. When he is home in Houston, he enjoys training at his high school gym where he can mentor student-athletes and attend sporting events. During his time in the Army, Hunt worked out every day at 5:30am. This is something that is engrained in him to this day.
Hunt follows a three-day split where he prioritizes each body part:
“As a former Army veteran, the military influenced my current workout routine by instilling the consistency necessary to become a better version of myself every single day.”
Along with weightlifting, Wesley Hunt walks 5-7 miles each day, five days a week, with 45 minutes being weighted wearing a 40-pound vest.
Wesley Hunt’s Diet Plan
Wesley Hunt has tailored his diet plan to what works best for him at his current age. Primarily, this nutrition plan consists of one meal each day, one protein shake, and 16 hours of fasting. Hunt follows a high-protein, low-carb diet with minimal alcohol intake. Because of his schedule and travel, Hunt finds it best to take in just one meal and one shake, with steak being a favorite option. He also uses creatine, glutamine, and Whey protein for recovery. Ultimately, Hunt claims that sleep is the most important part of recovery.
“The most important part of recovery is sleep—that’s what I’ve discovered. The most overlooked part of your life is getting a good night’s rest. When I sleep well, my day is so much better. That part of recovery is something people need to learn to prioritize and understand just how important it is.”

Wesley Hunt was raised in a household centered around a blend of faith, family, and a strong sense of duty. His parents instilled in him the overall important of faith, discipline, and respect. Hunt continues to be a family man who enjoys playing with his children, bringing them to school, and enjoying the simple moments. No matter where he is, Hunt has made it a point to fly home each week to be with his family.
