Arnold Schwarzenegger debunks the myth that “real men eat meat.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the most legendary bodybuilders of all time and has long been a staple for what it means to be a “real man.” Not only due to his bodybuilding past but also by heralding in the “action hero” era of action movies with a massive physique, big explosions, and tons of machismo.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was also a man who used to eat a lot of meat. You can get a good glimpse of this in the classic documentary Pumping Iron showcasing Schwarzenegger in his prime. This of course was a mentality that still stands strong today – that bodybuilders need to eat meat to get the protein to become massive.
Well now Arnold Schwarzenegger is here to tell you that is all bullshit. In the latest released clip from the documentary The Game Changers – Schwarzenegger goes into detail about how corporations essentially brainwashed generations of men with commercials to convince them that “real men eat meat.” Schwarzenegger bought into it just like many men of his generation – and he plowed through meals upon meals of meat to bulk up and keep up his massive bodybuilder physique.
But in this new documentary Arnold is singing a different tune. Not only did corporations brainwash him to eat meat – but now that’s he has stopped eating meat and focused on vegetarian meals, he actually feels stronger. Check it out in the clip above.
Do you think vegetarian and vegan bodybuilders can get as massive as competitors who eat meat to bulk up? Let us know in the comments.
