Wes Watson Gym Beating Video Released After Guilty Plea, Bodycam Captures Heated Exchange With Police
Wes Watson’s assault case is back in the headlines after police released surveillance video – showing the beating that led to the fitness influencer pleading guilty to aggravated battery.
Days after Watson entered the guilty plea in Miami-Dade County court, the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office released surveillance footage from inside Elevation Fitness along with bodycam video from responding officers, providing the public with its first look at the incident that prosecutors say ended with the victim suffering multiple facial fractures and a concussion.
Surveillance Footage Shows Gym Altercation
According to investigators, the incident occurred on December 29, 2024, inside Elevation Fitness in Miami.
Authorities previously alleged that the victim traveled from New Jersey to confront Watson after disagreements stemming from Watson’s online presence. Court records state the victim approached Watson while he was training, and surveillance footage appears to show the confrontation escalating after the initial exchange.
The newly released security video shows Watson removing his weightlifting belt and repeatedly striking the victim. The footage also appears to show multiple other men joining the altercation as the victim is taken to the ground before a gym employee eventually intervenes.
Investigators have previously said the victim suffered:
- Facial fractures
- A concussion
- Multiple bruises, including two black eyes
The victim has also filed a civil lawsuit related to the incident.
Bodycam Video Shows Watson Defending His Actions
As reported by WPLG Local 10 in Miami, The police bodycam footage also captures Watson speaking with responding officers shortly after the fight.
In the video, Watson maintains that he acted in self-defense after being confronted at the gym.
Among the statements heard in the footage, Watson says:
“Next time I’m going to kill that mother****er, straight up.”
He also tells officers:
“You guys saw a mother*er attack me and I’m sitting here like I’m in fing trouble.”
The victim, meanwhile, is seen speaking with officers in separate bodycam footage, claiming he was attacked by multiple people during the incident.
Watson Previously Pleaded Guilty
Generation Iron previously reported that Watson pleaded guilty to aggravated battery as part of a negotiated plea agreement.
Under the agreement, prosecutors recommended:
- 21 months in prison, with credit for time already served
- Seven years of probation
- Court-ordered mental health treatment
During the plea hearing, Watson’s attorney argued that the alleged victim intentionally sought Watson out because of his online fame, saying the man flew from New Jersey specifically to confront him at the gym.
Watson is scheduled to return to court later this month for sentencing. Separate felony cases in Broward County involving unrelated allegations remain pending and are not part of the Miami-Dade plea agreement.
