WILL BIG RAMY BREAK PRO BODYBUILDING RECORDS THIS WEEKEND?

Generation Iron Big Ramy Record

A new size that topples even Ronnie Coleman.

Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay is a talented bodybuilder on the rise. The Egyptian standout is competing this weekend at the Arnold Classic Brazil which will be his first appearance in a pro competition since the 2014 Mr. Olympia. Since we last saw Big Ramy, the man was in some impressive shape. Despite the fact that he had way less experience than the majority of the competitors, the Egyptian broke into the top 10. It was an alarming and eye opening turn of events. Many onlookers claimed that the man looked even more impressive than the reigning champ and his chief rival, Phil Heath and Kai Greene respectfully.

The event has sparked an interesting conversation, mainly: will Big Ramy be the man to defeat Phil Heath and take the Olympia crown? There are a lot of detractors who think Big Ramy is nowhere near ready to take on Heath, claiming that despite his size he doesn’t have the conditioning or the calf development to compete with the champ. While the Egyptian’s supporters claim that he already looked more impressive than Heath in his last outing and is sure to improve.

Well for anyone wondering how Big Ramy was spending his off season, it looks like you’ll be getting your answer this weekend. The Egyptian has packed on quite a bit of muscle since the Olympia competition, tipping the scales at 325 lbs. That’s right, you read that correctly. It looks like Big Ramy is looking to get himself into the record books by being the first pro bodybuilder to compete at over 300 lbs. He’s planning to cut down to 310 for the actual competition and if his trainer’s claims are correct, Big Ramy will be looking like he’s cut out of granite. Not even the great Ronnie Coleman has competed over 300 lbs. It’s hard to believe that Big Ramy has only been competing seriously for a handful of years and yet already he’s looking to break records and turn heads. But the question remains: will his bulk be enough?
