Mya Lesnar continues an incredible run by winning a national title with her first throw.
Mya Lesnar, much like her father, is using her overall strength and athleticism to accomplish great things. On Thursday, June 12th 2025, Lesnar won the national championship in the women’s shot put finals at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Mya, who is the daughter of WWE superstar Brock Lesnar, reached a mark of 19.01 meters (64 feet, 4 ½ inches) on her first attempt. This throw would put her in the lead and she would remain at the top for the duration of the competition. Lesnar finished over five inches better than the runner-up.
“It was pretty cool. Obviously, throws like that don’t happen often. To do it on my first one is pretty cool. It meant more to me to do it on the first one and start the competition strong.”
Lesnar reached the No. 7 mark on the world leaderboard with a throw of 19.60 meters during the Doug Max Invitational in May. She became the No. 1 shot putter in the nation following her performance during the Mountain West championships.
Mya Lesnar Continues Incredible Run at Colorado State
Lesnar, a senior at Colorado State, recently won her fourth consecutive Mountain West shot put title. On her final toss of the event, Lesnar propelled into the top spot, setting multiple NCAA records and earning the spot as the No. 1 shot putter in the nation.
Lesnar’s final toss of the meet went an incredible 18.08 meters/59-feet-4.0 meters with 19.60/64-3.5. This placed her in the top three marks in NCAA history in women’s shot put. Lesnar spoke with the Colorado State athletics site following her performance and credited her support system for this accomplishment.
Mya Lesnar was named the Mountain West Female Athlete of the Year in 2024 after winning the NCAA Indoor Shot Put National Championship. As a sophomore in 2023, she set the Colorado State record with a toss of 18.50 meters. Lesnar came into Colorado State as a force and has only improved upon her reputation becoming the top shot putter in the nation.
The collegiate success for Mya Lesnar follows her family history. Brock Lesnar won a national title in 2000 while wrestling for Minnesota in the 285-pound weight class. He went onto become an elite WWE superstar while also becoming a UFC champion.
