How will it play out at the 2023 Masters Olympia this weekend?

The 2023 Masters Olympia competition will officially make its return this weekend. The event was held at the BT Arena in Cluj Napoca, Romania where all 10 divisions in bodybuilding were present to compete. This event featured some of the best competitors of all-time as results were spread over two nights.

Robby Robinson won the first ever Masters Olympia competition back in 1994. Vince Taylor holds the record with six victories, which occurred consecutively from 1996-2001. There was a hiatus following the 2003 competition before Dexter Jackson took home the title in 2012.

Below, check out a full breakdown of the event along with the official rosters from all 10 divisions.

Kamal Elgargni

Kamal Elgargni said back in March that “if the prize was right,” he would enter the Masters Olympia. Apparently, the pool was to his liking and he is now one of the favorites to win the show in Men’s Open.

Elgargni is one of the top Men’s 212 competitors over the last decade. He has placed in the top three in each of the last five Olympia competitions in 212, including a victory in 2019. Last season, Elgargni began competing in Men’s Open. He entered the 2022 Tampa Pro and finished as the runner-up to Akim Williams. Elgargni has tailored his physique to Men’s Open and will be looking to make an impression once again.

Joshua Lenartowicz

Joshua Lenartowicz burst onto the scene in 2015 and was successful in Men’s Open for half a decade. Recently, he said he was not retired from bodybuilding and continued to train at a high level. His next venture will now be the Masters Olympia over the weekend.

In 2015, Lenartowicz won the Ferrigno Legacy Show and the San Marino Pro. He took a step up in competition and finished third at the Arnold Classic the very next year. In 2016 and 2017, he was a Top 10 finisher at the Olympia. Prior to the 2019 Olympia, Lenartowicz found out that he had a brain tumor and required surgery to remove it. Following the surgery, he slipped into a coma. The journey recovery was long but Lenartowicz is ready to hit the stage once again.

Phil Clahar

Phil Clahar will enter the weekend as the only competitor on the roster that is already qualified for the 2023 Olympia. He earned his first professional victory during the 2023 Orlando Pro and punched his ticket to the biggest show of the year. There were questions about whether he would remain in the Masters Olympia or focus on November but they have been answered. After his victory in Orlando, it is clear that he has kept his physique in championship shape.

Maxx Charles

Maxx Charles took the stage during the 2023 New York Pro and finished sixth. Last year, Charles has five top-five finishes in what was a very busy season. Charles has been looking to take the next step in the biggest division and his performance this weekend could be the start of it. If Charles is able to win here, he will punch his ticket to the Olympia weekend in November.
