Arnold Schwarzenegger Begins Filming New Action Thriller ‘The Kellys,’ and he’s Pumping Iron With His Co-Star
Hollywood legend, and bodybuilding’s patron saint, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed through his Pump Club newsletter this week that production has officially begun on his latest film, The Kellys. Schwarzenegger shared the update while discussing his recent training sessions, adding that he’s currently filming in Budapest alongside co-star Liam Hemsworth.
The project marks another major role for Schwarzenegger as he continues to balance acting, all kinds of business interests, and being the biggest fitness ambassador in the world.
“I started filming in Budapest this week. The movie is called The Kellys, and it’s very, very fun. Liam Hemsworth is in it and we are training in the same gym.”
According to details shared alongside the announcement, The Kellys follows Jack Kelly, a disgraced New York City police officer whose wife, Molly, is taken hostage by terrorists inside an old armory building. Forced into an impossible situation, Kelly must team up with people he fears and distrusts in order to save his family.
Brad Peyton, known for action-heavy thrillers like San Andreas and Rampage, is directing Arnold’s latest project.
Arnold’s First Day on Set Wasn’t Exactly Fun
While Schwarzenegger sounded excited about the project overall, he admitted that the first day of filming came with one of the less glamorous realities of movie production.
“My first day wasn’t so fun. It was a night shoot. That means you come to work at 6 in the evening and go home at 6 in the morning.”
For most people, an overnight shift would be enough to skip the gym. Schwarzenegger, however, appears to be sticking to the same discipline that carried him from bodybuilding champion to global superstar decades ago.
The Austrian Oak has long preached consistency over motivation, and even while juggling a demanding filming schedule overseas, he’s still making time to train and encouraging Pump Club members to do the same.
Arnold Schwarzenegger: From Bodybuilding Legend to Hollywood’s Busiest Action Star
Schwarzenegger remains one of the most recognizable figures in fitness and entertainment. After winning multiple Mr. Olympia titles and helping bring bodybuilding into the mainstream, he built one of the most successful action-movie careers of all time with films like The Terminator, Predator, Commando, and Total Recall.
Even in his late seventies, Schwarzenegger continues to take on new projects while maintaining an active presence in the fitness world through Pump Club, where he regularly shares training advice, health insights, and updates from his personal life.
Plenty More Arnold on the Way
The announcement adds another major project to Schwarzenegger’s growing slate. His holiday action-comedy The Man With the Bag is expected to arrive later this year, while fans are also eagerly awaiting further developments surrounding the long-discussed King Conan project, which Schwarzenegger has indicated remains a possibility for the future.
For bodybuilding fans, Arnold’s latest update serves as another reminder that the work ethic that helped build his legendary physique hasn’t gone anywhere. Whether he’s filming overnight in Budapest, training alongside Liam Hemsworth, or communicating directly with millions of fitness enthusiasts through Pump Club, Schwarzenegger continues to stay as busy as ever.
