Is Chris Bumstead thinking about retiring after his fifth Olympia victory?

Chris Bumstead is on top of the bodybuilding world, both on and off the stage. Could he be considering retirement at this point in his career? This is something that has been discussed but there has been no decisions made to this point. In a recent Twitter post, Bumstead teased the idea of hanging it up.

Bumstead won his fifth consecutive Classic Physique Olympia title in Orlando just two weeks ago. In 2019, he topped Breon Ansley on the biggest stage and has not let up since. Even with a growing division in Classic Physique, Bumstead has remained at the top and has not shown signs of slowing down.

Despite his years of success, there have been many rumors surrounding Bumstead. This includes the potential of retirement. Bumstead has not committed to switching divisions or hanging it up on stage while he remains focused on winning Olympia titles. That is, of course, for now.

Chris Bumstead Teases Retirement

The 2023 Olympia ended just two weeks ago and Chris Bumstead had his hand raised once again. This means the prep for the 2024 Olympia has begun, or will Bumstead call it a career?

“The question is: hang it up… or bring one more home?”

There is another option that has been discussed and that is joining Men’s Open. This has been teased over the last year and it could come to fruition if Bumstead finds the right show. He has talked about the idea of competing in Men’s Open. He would be interested in doing a significant show, such as the Arnold Classic, if it were two weeks after the Olympia. Instead, the Arnold remains in March and Bumstead will not commit to competing.

After years of domination, there have been talks about the potential of moving up into Men’s Open. As of now, there are no plans but the topic remains open. Bodybuilding legends Shawn Ray and Jay Cutler sat down to discuss it following the 2023 Olympia. Ray believes that Bumstead would have been in contention for the Mr. Olympia title if he was in Men’s Open this year.

The future remains unknown for Chris Bumstead but there are many options on the table. Over the next year, fans will be interested in learning what his next move will be.
