Lunsford shared a mysterious message on social media teasing an appearance at the Pittsburgh Pro in May. On Monday, he confirmed that he will be taking the stage in Pittsburgh as he looks to continue to build his legacy in bodybuilding. Lunsford views the Pittsburgh Pro as one of the major shows of the year. After winning the Arnold Classic, he plans to complete the trifecta in Pittsburgh and at the Olympia at the end of the year.
Lunsford’s journey to the apex of bodybuilding is both remarkable and inspiring. He first captured the Olympia 212 title, then transitioned to the Men’s Open category, clinching the title on his second attempt. Significantly, he became the first athlete to secure titles in two different divisions, marking a historic moment in the competition’s legacy.
Derek Lunsford Competing At New York Pro?
Lunsford joined Terrick El Guindy for a conversation and shared that he will be attending the New York Pro. He did not rule out competing at the show but either way, shared that he will be in attendance.
“I’ll tell you this, whether I’m competing in New York or not, I’ll be there. So if I’m not competing, I’m going to show up and I’ll be there and I’ll support. Either way, I want to focus on Pittsburgh. This is No. 1.”
The New York Pro is viewed as one of the biggest competitions of the year. Some would even argue that it is third behind the Olympia and Arnold. Lunsford shared that he is interested in building a legacy this year. If that is the case, competing in New York might be of interest.
“The position that I’m in right now, having just come off the Arnold Classic win. To do the Arnold Classic, to do the Pittsburgh Pro, and to do the Olympia all the same year and be victorious in all three would be another monumental, historical moment in bodybuilding history.”
Lunsford is back on top of bodybuilding following his victory in Columbus. He defeated reigning Olympia champion Samson Dauda at the Arnold, setting up another major battle come the Olympia.
